Once upon a time a long time ago I used the library to find books on the subject I was interested in learning, check the book out of the library, take it home, and play around on the computer. In this 21st Century AD I use Google to learn something new. CSS is relatively simple, it has a syntax where you can assign display attributes for a given HTML element. Where CSS is difficult is trying to resolve the variances of different browser brands. HTML is also relatively simple and involves placing TAGS around text. DHTML is the same as HTML except that it is Dynamically produced instead of a static text file. You forgot to include Javascript which drives a lot of what you see today and helps provide the programming for events such as mouse clicks, hovering, background data manipulation, and a lot more.

      I'm confused. You can't find W3Schools?

      Because it's definitely right here.

Examine sites you like with Firebug to see how they did it, edit it live and see what happens. Overall, create some stuff, i.e. see if you can build a nice page and style it, then as you stumble over various problems google for solutions and take notes of good techniques somewhere in a text file... then move on to something prettier, more complex, i.e. edit a WP theme a bit

I agree with some of the other, the W3 schools is a greats source, also have you consider a program to edit code, so you don't have to do it manually?

Agree with SirKonstantine, start learning HTML5. You can't get "advanced" with older HTML because it's not an advanced language. If you want to build high quality, advanced sites, you need to move beyond HTML/CSS and learn Javascript and PHP.

*hint* Much of HTML5 IS Javascript

Just Google-ing for some tutorials -pdf, videos, or whatever- usually does the job. But if you want a specific site to go to, then I'd recommend w3schools.com, lynda.com, and even youtube has a couple of decent tutorial videos.
