Help Please with Autoresponder setup

Hi,

I am working at configuring an Autoresponder software and I had a question about the config.cgi file. The manual says to open it with Wordpad but when I do that it doesn't allow me to open it as a .cgi file format. Instead it makes me change it to .rtf. I am using MS Word 2007. Is this correct or will this cause a problem?

Thanks.
Ken

A cgi file is just a text file.

Use a plain text editor such as EditPlus:

    Thanks Neil,

After I make the changes, what file format should I save it in? I'm wondering if it needs to be a certain file extension to work when uploaded to the webhost. Will Wordpad still work also for my purpose?

    Best regards.

    Hello Ken

    It's a text file.

If it starts as config.cgi then that's also what you need to save it as.

The filename extension will be cgi and this has no effect on the actual format of the file - it's just part of the filename.

    Cheers,

You can also always use the built in Notepad - comes standard with Windows.

I edit any CGI or Perl files using Notepad. You should be okay with that...
