Pay Pal button not forwarding after purchase

Hey guys , I am trying to sell a PDF from my wordpress site via pay pal. I am using their 'buy now' button generator...

Before generating the code, it asks you where you want to forward the customer after they have paid. I am forwarding them to an address which lets them download the PDF

However after the payment is made , they are taken to the receipt page and then nothing happens. If they click back then it will take them to the PDF download page .__.

Has anyone had this issue before?

If the buyer pays with a credit/debit card rather than with their PayPal balance, they won't be redirected. They do that to make sure that the buyer has a 'receipt' for their purchase.

I thought they had a return to site link even for the receipt page, it has been a while since I programmed for PayPal though. An option for you would be to open the payment link in a new browser window.

They DO have a 'return to site' link, they just don't auto-return when payment is made by credit card.
