Membership site

I am planning for my first membership site. The basis will be either a monthly payment or a yearly payment (people who do that then get 2 months access for free ). I do work with WordPress so any plug-in that can be used for this is welcome.
Can anybody tell me how to proceed and what plug-ins I should look for?
Free preferably (yep, I'm a tightwad, really Dutch )

    I assume you want payment integration then? There are a lot of decent PAID plugins out there. Wishlist is one that I use often.

    As for FREE, why not just use the WP-Roles and do it manually. Once you receive payment, then you send them their username and password.

      Wishlist looks good indeed, maybe I should consider that one. As to manual stuff, that is a NoGo for me. Investigated the expected amount of visitors, they run in the 1000's

    Amember is one I have been thinking about using. Digital Access Pass is another one to consider.

      Hi, thanks for your reply.
      I looked at both and I am going to play around with aMember. DAP does not seem to integrate easily with WP. I'll take another look at it later today.

    I like Wishlist. They do a good job and they recently had an update. But I've also heard good things about Amember. I may try them on my next membership build out.

    What's the membership niche, if I may ask?
