License Key Management / Authentication for Adobe AIR or Java Apps?

I am building an educational desktop app and having difficulty cracking the "licensing" aspect of this.

Does anyone here have experience with handling, issuing, managing, authenticating license keys for Adobe AIR or Java-based desktop solutions?

I am not trying to have something that is Pentagon secure... I am trying to discourage blatant piracy. Ideally it wouldn't be a randomly generated or obvious key that can be shared and used infinitely for any installation.

Also, I don't need to try and lock the application down so tight that the user has to always be online for it to work.

I've looked at the following service providers... but still can't quite figure how it all should fit together.

Does anyone have any ideas, questions, links, services, or other considerations?
