What plugin or method would you use for a membership site?

Hi Guys and Gals,
My name is Marc Ashley I'm new here so please if I'm in the wrong place just let me know! I making a new website and I'm building a WP membership area ad I'm not sure which solution would be the best. If anyone has any ideas or advice I would be so thankful!

    Hi Flippmate,

    I actually just posted a free wp members area plugin on my blog. I can't post links yet but you can follow my sig. It basically restricts the whole site, pages, and or posts so that only registered users can access them. I hope that's what you're looking for and that it helps.

      It's really easy to install. Basically just install the plugin, go to the settings, and then select what areas you want to limit to your members only. Please let me know if you have any other questions. Happy to help.

    There are many free membership plugins on wordpress site, try searching on there and google. Depends on what you need, maybe you will also need to buy commercial plugins.

    Hi: I have the same question, except I have two criteria that I can't seem to meet via a WP plugin:

    1) the membership directory has to be searchable by certain fields
    2) I want members to be able to contact each other securely through the website

    Any thoughts on that?
