Complicated question dealing with forums and RSS feeds.

I'm kind of curious if there is a way to build a script that will allow a user to create a custom RSS feed from a forum profile for members to subscribe to.

Basically what I want is to be able to build up a following on forums using an RSS feed, once a forum member subscribes to MY feed, they'll then receive an email into there inbox that will let them know I created a new thread at that forum.

Would be better if someone already has one built that I can use, preferably free, but if I need to build it, I guess I should ask if it would be possible?

    What platform are you using?

Well, the forum is built on VB. I don't have access to them so it would need to be kind of a third party system.

If you switch to an opensourced bulletin board, it'll be easier to develop

What you are talking about sorta already exists in any bulletin board since they all show recent posts on a person's profile page. It would only be a few more LOC to add "follow by email/rss" functions.

Yea, but the issue isn't exactly for ONE forum more so than a means of getting it on a LOT of forums. This forum in particular I'm friends with the owner, so that may not be an actual issue, however when I use it for process for other forums, it will be an issue.

Which is why I'm looking for some kind of script that can do what I need without having to have access to the forum database or anything else for that matter.

The reason it's on VB rather than others is because that's what most of the forums in my niches work with, that's really the only reason for that. Although, I wouldn't mind something that could do this with any type of forum.

    Make sense?
