Just change chmod permission, did I make a GIANT mistake?

Hosted with godaddy, and noticed that all the folder and file permissions were set to 705 so I changed them to 755 recursive through all files and folders(via ftp). It's wordpress based site so it changed everything including plugins, images, everything.

Is this ok or did I just do something terrible wrong.

I did this because after fetching as googlebot in webmaster tools my robot.txt files are unreachable...(for two days now) And I absolutely can't find the robots.txt file. I guess it's in the database.

The robots.txt file is not in the database. It's not served by WordPress at all. If you can't find one, you don't have one and need to create one.

If you're talking about the site in your signature, you do have a robots.txt file already.

I can actually see it when I visit the domain.com/robots.txt But I did create one yesterday and googlebot still couldn't see it. I call tech support and the guy said he's heard the same problem a few times since the crash last week.

No you should be okay with 755 ... now had you done 777, yes that would have been a terrible mistake lol.
