Onclick popup and SEO

Hey,

I put up a onclick popup on my site about 2 weeks ago, and last week my rankings slightly dropped by a few places, and it really matters as i went from 2 to 4.

Does the pop up matter? even if i block in robots?

Don't have much experience using them.

    I cannot see how adding a simple onclick popup would drastically alter your seo ranking provided your existing content had not changed. There seems to me that another factor is in play here. What is the content within the popup?
