Need Help with Domain/Hosting/Wordpress

I feel like I am missing something, but this is what I need to try to do:

I am setting up my website on WordPress. I already bought a domain and then I signed up for hosting at HostGator.

I added WordPress to my HostGator. I also added my nameservers to my domain on GoDaddy.

Problem #1. When adding my blog to HostGator, they give you an admin link where it should let you sign in to WordPress - but it doesn't go to Wordpress, it goes to my general GoDaddy landing page.

Problem #2. I added the nameservers to my HostGator but when I click on my domain address, it also goes to that same general GoDaddy landing page.

So I think the problem is that my domain isn't connecting to an actual website (and I want it connected to my WordPress page).

I tried doing the "add a domain" thing on HostGator, but since I signed up for HostGator stating this domain as my primary domain I already owned, it won't let me.

Now what!?

#1 after you change the DNS at godaddy it may take up to 24 hours for it to propagate, in most cases it happens fast such as 1 hour or less but it also depends on your providers resolution so 24 hours is the safe time frame.

#2 All you have to do is setup the given nameservers from hostgator into godaddy Setting Nameservers for Your Domain Names | Go Daddy Help | Go Daddy Support follow the 1st option "Setting Nameservers for a Domain Name Registered with Us"

Things you could try from your computer that may help you in some cases:
    Start > Run > cmd > type ipconfig /flushdns > press enter

As mentioned above wait until your provide propagates the dns.

    Use google's dns https://developers.google.com/speed/public-dns/

Here is some additional information that relates to what I mentioned about in regards the factors for DNS propagation which may be interesting (godaddy seems to take up to 48 hours) however on my experiences it goes a lot faster:

Oh yes also if I am not mistaken, hostgator gives you a placeholder domain name that you can use until your domains gets transfered etc.

And if u want to make sure the DNS are correct you can use this site:
    http://www.whatsmydns.net/#NS/

just type in your domain and it will show you what other servers see your domain nameservers as.
