Problem Cloning Wordpress Site

Hi,

I've found and tried a whole bunch of wordpress cloning plugins, and I'm not sure why none of them seem to work.

They all time out before they complete the install.

What could be the problem?

I'm urgently needing to get this sorted out and not sure what to do.

Thanks!

Not sure what you're using, but backup buddy works great.

I use WP Twin to backup/restore my sites and it works fine for me. Have you contacted your hosting provider regarding this?

I've tried duplicator, wp clone, and others.

Can someone please help me install this ASAP?

Here's what you need to to:

    1. Download all of the files located in the public_html directory

    2. Log into phpmyadmin & export the database for said Wordpress installation

    3. Upload the files you donwloaded to your new host & create the database/user

    4. Import the database into the new one you created via phpmyadmin

The problem is that most of these "cloning" plugins among many others are pure junk. Most of the time they try to use WAY more resources than they should.

Since you said clone, I'm assuming that you want to move the site or make a copy of it. The above steps will point you in the right direction to do it manually. If moving web hosts, the new host should be able to move the entire site for you.

I second that. This is the super free solution and very effective and working great in nearly almost condition. Furthermore, it is safe and cleaner than using those plugins. Plugins use in order to reduce time consuming and efford, but it cost you much time and efford till now.

On top of what @Kingfish85 said,

In phpMyAdmin go to wp_options (or whatever your options table is named) and change the value for the siteurl and the home settings. The siteurl in particular needs to be changed or you may see some quirks while trying to login to the wp-admin screens.

You also need to change the wp-config file to reflect the new database name, user, and password... and make sure the rest of the settings agree with the host/server your moving to, if you are changing hosts.
