Wordpress 3.5.1 - no links module

I noticed that in the past few websites where I installed the Wordpress script, the Links module seems to no longer be there?

Is anyone else experiencing this too? Has the Links module been removed from the Wordpress script?

You are correct, the default links menu was removed to lighten the core.
You can add it back if you want with the Link Manager Plugin

    Wow thanks David!

On another note, I think it's a strange thing for the developers to remove the Links module from Wordpress. Any idea why's that?

It really boiled down to UI and code bloat.
This was not a rash decision and a lot of thought was put into it.
I would have to agree with the final decision, it was a good call.
You can read a little more about it in the Trac.
    And just a note.....
If you already had WP installed then upgraded to v3.5+, the link menu will still be there. (backwards compatibility built in).
