I am pretty ignorant when it comes to WP or any technical stuffs. Could someone please state here the step by steps for me to follow to link my site to WP?

Something like www.mydomain.com to www.mydomain.com/blog

I'm not clear on what you are asking. Are you asking how to use Wordpress as your blog for your site? If so, see my answer below. If not, please refrase your question.

Wordpress is a piece of software (made up of many individual files) that is uploaded onto your web server and interacts with a database.

So, there are two ways to structure your website with Wordpress.

    1) You have an existing site and you just want to add a blog. You would upload the Wordpress files to a sub directory in your site, you would probably name this /blog. Then you just follow the Wordpress instructions to install the software and database. Then you can add a link to your existing homepage, pointing to yoursite.com/blog.

    2) If you are setting up a new site altogeather. I would suggest installing Wordpress in your main directory, and using Wordpress to manage your homepage, additional pages, and the blog.

If the above is way over your head, it's ok. Just spend some time reading the Wordpress documentation at wordpress.org. If it still sounds like greek, hire the work out.

if you have a site and you want to put a blog in the same site then www.site.com/blog
but if you want a blog with more independence fronm your main site then blog.site.com

Just create a directory named blog and upload the WP files there. Or create a subdomain for blog.domain.com

go do lynda.com and you can get an entire course on it. that's where i learned to upload, post, comment, etc.

one thing i had trouble with at first was getting my mind around difference in posts, pages, categories, comments.

Thank you all. I set up the blog using fantistico. Oh it was easy but I would not have figured out without your inputs.

    cheers for now

Make sure you're running WP 2.7 or whatever latest is. Fantistico often bundles old versions.
