Here's where I'd start to look: Main Page « WordPress Codex

Wordpress is written with PHP so if you aren't familiar with it you'd need to learn that aswell.

Thanks Delta90, wordpress is base on php and I learned php so I am familiar to.
Codex in wordpress is too big for me to view all.
      I appreciated your suggestions.

The reason I just suggested the codex is because your question is so broad. So you want to become an expert on wordpress, why is that ? Is it something special you want to do, develop plugins, design themes or maybe just use the platform to it's full extent.

You need to specify your question more to get a more precise answer.

How about asking the "webmaster forum" in your signature.....

I mean, how else do you become an expert at anything...? You learn by doing.

You really need to just dig in and start playing with it. I think your question is very general since most of WP customization has to do with the theme you are using or the plugins. Whenever I buy a new theme, it has a lot of functions that just take time to learn how they work and what does what. Most quality paid themes have a really good FAQ and support.

Like Delta said, if you really want to understand it fully, you should learn html and PHP.

That's a good idea. "learn by doing" something to get experience, right?

Setup a WordPress install, install some themes that you like and some plugins that you like, and attempt to modify them.

There isn't a single expert in WordPress that isn't intimately familiar with the WordPress codex.
