Help: I cannot clone my site

I'm trying to clone a site so I can move it to a different host. I do this kind of thing all the time. I usually use wptwin for this and it takes 5 minutes.

When I go to /wptwin.php - nothing shows up at all. I've tried a lot of fixes using the php.ini file. Nothing has worked. I said f-it and tried using the wp-clone pluggin instead and when it tries to clone the site, it brings me to an error saying simply, [an error occurred while processing this directive].

I guess I'm being blocked in somewhat but I can't think how. Am I going to have to try to manually backup the site or can anyone help?

I always use the WP Clone plugin without any problems.

You could check to see if there are any security plugins active (though I can't see why they would stop cloning).
You could also check with your host, but since you can do a manual export in 1/2 hour, why bother solving the issue?

What is the hosting company you are using? There may be a server configuration issue.

An alternative would be to try the standalone version of xcloner

You could also try this for $7 and if it doesn't work you could refund.

It will allow you to back up/clone in 2 different ways.

One way will let you pull a copy directly from the active site.

I've heard of issues with wptwin in the past which don't appear to occur with this software.

    Backup the Phpmyadmin database
    Copy all files from wp-content
Create another database and Import .sql
Make a wordpress fresh install and edit wp-config.php and then connect it to the database you just imported.

Have you tried using a backup service in cpanel? when we use wptwin, bakupbuddy, backup creator and any of these backup plugins or softwares they simply copy all the directory files for that particular wordpress. You can manually go in with FTP and download a copy of that directory to your hard drive then go into cpanel and go to phpmyadmin and find your database for that wordpress( if not sure look in your config file for database name). when you find your database export a copy to save with your downloaded files! You can clone that sight by uploading the files to a new directory. create a new database and import the database backup file into phpmyadmin. you will have to edit the config file with the new database info!

I recommend backup creator as it always have worked for me and simple to use! I own wp twin and backup buddy but backup creator has done the job fast for me many times over!

who is your hosting account with? I suggest blue host or hostgator.

The new host will likely help you migrate.
A good one will, at least!
