someone worked on my wordpress site now can not login

There are two different things that could cause this kind of error:

1. The person uploaded an outdated plugin and if this is the case, then you can login through www.YourURL.tld/wp-login.php

2. There are plugins that clash with each other that the person installed without knowing it. I have experienced this before but what I did is that as I could not login, I renamed some of the plugins through the Cpanel and it worked. (Article Directory Plugin once gave me this kind of error)

For any of them, try login on through the www.YourURL.tld/wp-login.php

but if the error persists, then mention the plugins in the system. Someone may be able to help with another option.

Please backup first, but I think I have had this problem too, your plugin is causing a error. To get your site back go to your ftp client like filezilla or to a browserbased folder overview in your hosting app and delete the:

wp-content/plugins/jquery-cycle-slideshow-for-simplest-gallery/ plugin folder, only this plugin, then your site should be able to run the login page correctly. To be sure please contact your hosting support.

Thanks for your help but that url to login does not work. If I do get in I still will not know what to do. I can not believe I just paid someone to work on my site and started it and left it like this! Oswriter can you help since you recommended this person to me?

Go into you cpanel and click file manager!

In file manager click "public_html"

Look for "wp-content"

next click "plugins"

next look for "Simplest Gallery plugin" now you can download a copy for backup but you want to delete this plugin!

Then try to logon to your site!

If you're still stuck, via ftp or cPanel file manager, rename the wp-content/plugins/ directory to something like wp-content/badplugins/ and login to your site.
Select "plugins" in the dashboard, and you will get a notice on the dashboard screen of all the plugins that are being deactivated.
Restore the wp-content/plugins/ to its proper name and you can activate plugins you are sure are ok. It might be best to update any plugins that are out of date before activating them.

Remove plugin or fix issue in plugin. Issue here is very clear: "Cannot modify header information - headers already sent by"- this means that in code is printed to page some character before was posted header function. So open file /wp-content/plugins/jquery-cycle-slideshow-for-simplest-gallery/sg-cycle.php - go to line 33 and here check what is here on this line.

good if it works. else you can always contact your web hosting company for safe deletion of bad plugin.

  If you click the link that Cliff sent you, you will get some blurb at the top of the page, and then lower down, you will see the wordpress admin login box.
  
  Once you enter your username and password, go to the dashboard, choose plugins and disable / and or delete the rouge plugin causing you the problem/
  
  Once the plugin is gone, then you can worry about backing up your installation and database.

yes, if I go into my cpanel I can, I found the folder but it does not let me rename it so I was not sure what to do.

Deleting only that folder will fix the issue, yes.
Keep in mind it will also mess up any pages that are using that plugin. It looks like an image gallery plugin, so it might not be too big of a deal and probably easily fixable. Deleting it will at least make your site accessible again.

If you have FTP access (which I believe you said you do) the easiest way is just to move a copy of ALL the files from the web server that you connect to, to a folder on your local computer. That will keep the files on the server, but just make a quick copy of them on your computer.

There are better ways to make a backup, but this is probably the easiest option since you don't have back door access.

Backup your wp-content folder.
Reinstall wordpress reupload wp-content and reinstall plugins and themes.
Connect it to your existing database on the wp-config.php

That went over my head. thanks though. The girl I paid disappeared and is no longer working on my site. She is from the philapeens and someone here recommended here. I am so upset over this and pissed!

Based on your error.

Disable plugin jquery-cycle-slideshow-for-simplest-gallery (By go to phpmyadmin and disable it directly in database, since you cannot login to wp-admin) This is a bit complicate.

It seems youve got a plugin that requires another plugin to run, and that messed up your site. just delete jQuery Cycle Plugin and you should be set.

I got the plug in fixed but the person working on my site was paid and never worked on it, I guess I was ripped off. Someone here recommended her and I am so pissed over this, this is the way I make my living.

Just rename your folder "plugins" in wp-content to deactivate all plugins through ftp. If you can not rename your plugins folder, first you have to do is change the file/folder access from 644 to 755. Then you can rename your plugins folder.

After that just login to your wordpress..yoururl.com/wp-admin or yoururl/wp-login. Then delete your bad plugin, and then activate each plugin one by one. Hopefully this will help you.
