WordPress Database Error

I'm having a problem with my wordpress site, it has a database error and is no longer showing. Which forum is the best to ask for assistance please?

I looked at the programming forum but it seems a bit complex there.

    Hi,

There are several reasons your WP blog shows this error.

If you haven't changed anything on your config.php file or on your database name/username/password you should contact hosting support to fix this on their end.

If you did changes to your config file or your database than the problem is complex and a programmer will need to access your ftp and have a look.

I am just guessing as I don't know your website address.

Thanks ivantk, and thanks for using your very first post to assist me.

I haven't made any changes to anything, but the error seems to be from a plug-in, as the sites error shows domain name wp-admin/plugins.php

I'll ask the hosting support if they can help. I am given a line of code from Wordpress to add to the wp-config.php file, but I have no idea where that file is as I don't know my way around c-panel.

Hi Katie, I second Ivan. Go right to hosting support.

In most cases they're doing a database upgrade, or database work, and your blog should return to normal really quickly.

    All the best!

Just in case this happens to anyone else, it is a WordFence plugin error. My hosting support has disabled the plugin, so if you have updated WordFence recently (I updated yesterday) you may want to check it.

I would suspect that the problem is with either another plugin or your theme. I use Wordfence on over 50 sites without any problem. Try posting in the Wordfence support where Mark the author is quite active.

...Even if you're on the right track, you'll get run over if you just set there.

I have experienced this several times. Yes it has to do with the hosting platform doing some kind of upgrade. This is only when you have not altered or change the wp-config.php settings.

Hosting support is my advice, they might have to do some MYSQL maintenance or restore a backup, if you know which plugin it is depending on permissions you may be able to delete it through FTP to fix your issue before you get your host involved.

It's usually a plugin. I delete them all then reupload one by one to find the culprit.
