I know there are a few programmers out there, so I'm basically trying to get their idea on the status of Flex/Actionscript.

I used to code C# professionally and know my way around PHP pretty well, but I no longer do this for a living. However, for my pet projects (mostly marketing related) , I've long been searching for a good multiplatform language with a good development environment since I love my Macs but still have my PC.

So a few years ago I started looking at Flex and developing Air-apps, but never really got around to it.

Then as I wrote a Twitter-program that I use to automate my Twitter-stuff in C#, I started really looking into Flex again. However, the language seems deader than a doornail. Apparently Adobe handed it all over to Apache, and they seem more focused on the mobile part of it than the desktop stuff.

So, question for you programmers, should I keep looking at Flex for cross platform apps or should I move on to greener pastures? Node Webkit comes to mind, but are there other alternatives? I'm strictly interested in desktop development - I'd use PHP for anything web based.
