Cannot attach images to blog posts in Wordpress

I need some help, please. I'm pretty new and can figure most things out after much trial and error, but I'm stumped! I purchased a WP site that was all set up and had photos attached to each post. I have started working on personalizing it, but I didn't realize the photos were linked to the original domain name. That domain expired, which deleted all the images. I changed all links I could find to my domain name, uploaded the images to my server, and managed to get them to show in the library next to the appropriate post...but I can't get them to appear on the site.

I know I probably just missed one simple step, but what?
Please keep instructions simple, as I barely know that I'm doing.

Thank you,
Jacque

Did you actually go into the posts and update the url to each photo?

If you already have them on your server then I bet there is a simple error in the path.

you actually didn't even have to upload them you could have used the little image upload icon in your post box.
this video in the link below shows how to embed photos etc in WordPress.com blogs but it works the same for self-hosted WordPress blogs

        Karen,

I already watched a video that showed me exactly what to do and I had no luck, but I'll check this one out. Wish me luck!

Yes, I updated the url in each post. How do I determine if there is an error in the path? I wouldn't know an error if I saw it, but I suspect that is the problem.

I just now watched the video and I had tried uploading from the image icon. The image then shows up in the preview, but it still isn't on the site. Also, there are two locations where the photos should appear - in the excerpt at the beginning of the blog, then again at the beginning of the full-length article. It doesn't show either place.

If you can take a look at my site debtcreditrepairtips.com when you have a chance I would appreciate it. I need someone who knows what they are doing to see what is going on. I have done all the obvious things already.
      Thanks!

Because I had a similar problem, I actually use a delivery from photobucket, flicker, etc so I don't have to encounter that problem again. I have a paid account. Just another option for you to consider.

Thanks for the info, Edgegirl. I'll make note of that so I don't have to go through this again in the future.

When I try opening the image path in a new tab I get file cannot be found. So the image is not in the folder.

Use your ftp to take a look into the folder /wp-content/uploads/2009/07/article5.jpg and see if the image file is there.

You may have done this already but...

The images are on the server, but the path is
wp-content/uploads/uploads/articlexxx.jpg so that looks like the problem. I don't know what to do to correct this, so maybe you can tell me...or probably my host can help me fix it, right? This domain is an addon domain rather than my primary domain, so that always complicates things in my mind. (Easy to do right now.)

I sure appreciate your help. Can't wait until I can be the "helper" instead of the "helpee".

Did you upload the images via ftp to the server. THis sounds like you copied the uploads folder from your computer to the uploads folder on the server. This would have resulted in the double uploads folder.

If this is the case going into that folder and copy all the pictures and move them into the first uploads folder is the easiest.

Yes, that is exactly what I did. I understand just what to do. However, I am burned out for today, so I'll tackle that first thing tomorrow AM, then go celebrate our Independence Day!

Thank you SO MUCH! Have a great weekend.
