Is Social Bookmarking Dead?
Share on:
fb share twitter share gplus share more share

I have done tons of social bookmarks over a period of time, and I don't see any increase in the serps for different keywords targeted - maybe social bookmarking is dead as far as Google is concerned?

Anyone get any traffic at all from social bookmarks?

I know that propeller is good for backlinks!

It seems though that social bookmarks in general don't lead to much traffic or being indexed by Yahoo, MSN or any other search engines - it's as though they cannot see them.

Hey Tony Dean. I know there are probably a lot of guys/gals on this forum that have their particular methods of generating traffic and will tell you all sorts of things about social bookmarking and the websites that specifically tailor to social bookmarking. Personally, although I have interest in the field, I have never really had much of a success rate using some of the methods that people insist on regarding this subject...

However, from the perspective of actual internet users, I can tell you that I have quite a few friends who use social bookmarking websites almost religiously. It is where they get information, news, entertainment, and all sorts of other things.

Knowing this... I am under the impression that there is still, at bare minimum, a decent market for it. All I can say is that I agree with Cecille20 when they talk about the concept of joining groups and becoming involved. I hope you find a solution! If you do, I'm sure everyone would appreciate you making a post about it =D

I get quiet a lot of traffic from Social Bookmarking. I use Onlywire which is good value for only around $3 a month. I do find though that it is very random. One day its 10 next it's 100's. Sometimes it's from reddit, others it's from Stumbleupon, I don't know why. I don't think it is very targeted but it is good for backlinking and SEO.
If you want to spend the time and join the social group within StumbleUpon then you will get more internal traffic.

the links good only for few weeks and than they got burried, i mean new links always added to those site so if you stop submitting them you are going to the end of the list and google will have really hard time to find them again....

A lot of social bookmarking sites are nofollow, and also it takes a LOT of these low-quality links to push you up the rankings.
