Blog Entries: 2 | This is a BAD IDEA! This is explicitly forbidden by the TOS, and Squidoo have algorithms to detect this kind of behaviour. Here's a quote from their FAQ:

Sorry for raining on your parade, but it's better that you know. Instead, here's an alternative way to get visits, ratings and comments: ask for a critique of your lens, either on this forum or over on SquidU - they have a special sub-forums for Critiques, Angels or just lenses you like. Pick one of your lenses, explain what it's about and any issues you might be having with it (traffic? sales? formatting?). Remember to include a link to it as well... This is much better because you're asking other Lensmasters to visit your lenses, without swapping ratings. If they like it, they will rate and comment anyway, and they may also give you some feedback on how to improve your lens. They are a very helpful bunch. Over on DigitalPoint there's a thread titled "Show us your best Squidoo Lens". This is another legitimate way of getting folk to visit your lenses, without breaking the rules on rating swaps. If your lens is good and appeals to other Lensmasters, then it will attract good ratings all by itself. Of course, make sure that your lens really is as good as you can make it before you "put it out there" - if it's bad, then other Lensmasters will tell you so... To conclude: it's okay to ask people to visit a lens, just don't do "I'll give you 5 stars if your give me 5 stars". |
