Are there any sites/ tools that will tell you how many times as certain keyword has been typed into Google for a certain period of time apart from the google tools?

Thanks

They generally all pull the information from Google, so why not just get it from the source?

Google Adwords Keyword Planner Tool is your best tool. I know it's not accurate but gives you the general idea.

Try with your competitors. Find who are the top ranking sites for your main keywords, open them, check their "source" code and get all their text between <title></title>.

Stay away from Google "tools" they are tracking your every move, do`nt ever touch any of their "fantastic" tools when you do something SEO related. They have no interst to getting ranked your website ,they have interest on earning on you in AdWords.

Use other tools which don`t require Google account to be looged in to.
Try SEMRUSH - you will find toons of keyphrases your competitors rank, it`s fantastic tool, bit pricey but it pays off, really. It can shows you many keyphrases you even didn`t think about to rank.

if your looking for search counts (if you want to believe them) the source is Google no one can tell how many searches for a particular keyword other than the originator of search engine

but you can look at similar web and look at particular websites for their traffic patterns and you can get an idea overall how much traffic they get and from where
