Purchasing domains for PBN that have been 302 redirected?

Hi all. Is it worth it to purchase a domain that has been 302 redirected to another domain? I often find good domains in auctions with decent PR, DA, and TF/CF ratio. The backlink profile of these domains I find are also good. The problem is, when I check the domain in the Wayback Machine, it shows a 302 redirect to another domain.

If the domain has been 302 redirected, should I still pick this up for my PBN or is this a big red flag and I should stay away from this domain?

If you can determine why the 302 was done, it can help a lot to evaluate it. I know some people have been experimenting with spam and 302 redirects. That could be an issue.

For the most part, if the links exist (I don't care how good the metrics look, you must be sure the links exist), I will usually buy domains that have 301 or 302 redirects. Haven't had any problems with them.

Look in-depth at the backlink profile with a tool like Majestic.

You want to make sure there is quality links: No bad anchor text (viagra, etc) from domains with good stats themselves (PA, DA, CF & TF)

You also want to make sure the distribution is good: no more then 30% of the backlinks coming from one domain alone.

Stay away from anything that has been redirected. If it has been redirect, it's possible it has been used to carry out some spammy activities. There's lots of good expired domains that haven't been redirected.

If the domains are very cheap and you wouldn't mind risking some cash to get it, make sure it doesn't have any bad links and that it shows up at the #1 position in Google if you search for the domain.

You cannot make a blanket statement like that to just stay away from anything that has been redirected. There are plenty of domains that were redirected for legitimate reasons.

You just need to analyze the backlinks to see what was going on.

The domain I found was redirected to a new domain name. The owner found a better domain name and decided to move the site to the new domain name. I suppose the owner should have done a 301 redirect, but did a 302 redirect instead.

The backlink profile was clean in Majestics. There was no spammy anchor text - all the anchor text was related to the website.

Some people advise no matter how clean the website was, or even if the 302 redirect was done for a good reason, that you should avoid a 302 redirected website just because it was redirected. Unfortunately, about 50% of the expiring domains I run into were 302 redirected at the end of their lifetime, usually because the owner found a better domain name and wanted to move the site.

I would start ignoring those people right away.
