Livefyre and Discuss comments are Do or No Follow?

I came across some posts on lists of do follow blogs. Most were SEO type organizations but I found a few that were in my niche (not the blog, but a post on the blog was in my niche).

When I went to the blog it appeared to be no follow. I have the Firefox addon that shows green for do follow and red for no follow, that is how I determined this.

Which brought me to two questions.

How do people determine a do follow blog?
How do LiveFyre and Discuss work?

Are these blogs no follow on their page but they link to a Discuss/Livefyre profile that is do follow so the blog is now considered do follow?
How does getting a no follow link to my do follow profile increase my sites PR, DA, PA, TF, CF or any of these other measurements people are talking about?

NoFollow > DoFollow > My Blog

I don't get it.

Why is commenting on a Livefyre/Disquss blog better than commenting on a regular NoFollow blog?
#comments #discuss #follow #livefyre

Your wasting too much time worrying about comment links that in reality, are going to get you nowhere. Pour that energy somewhere else.

Just got back from a #BrightonSEO. I was given room 404 in the hotel I stayed at. Couldn’t find it anywhere!

Gotta agree with Icematikx. Comment backlinks carry very little SEO value. However, if you must know. There's a firefox plugin that instantly tells you whether links are do follow or nofollow. It's called "nodofollow" Should do the trick.

Yep I have been using that Firefox plugin and it's handy to know which sites are nofollow or follow, but as he said they don't carry that much weight in SEO

There are number of plugins out there which helps you to determine about nofollow and dofollow links. I personally use "seoquake" for firefox and chrome.

You should be more concerned about relevant and high quality blogs for comments instead of type of links.

Almost all of my DA comes from places that have no follow comments. I have a DA of 42. I need to get some do follow links somewhere.
I need to increase my SERPs and I need to get some TF. I have a TF of 12. No one thinks I know what I am talking about.

Here is the RDS Bar stats
    SEOMoz CF TF
    48(42) 43(28) 13(12)

How am I going to get some traffic to that?

DA and TF have nothing to do with rankings. The fact that you have such a high DA with almost all nofollow links, just goes to show how inaccurate of a metric it can be.

This pretty well sums up the idea that you are trying too hard on the wrong things.

I'm going to guess that you aren't incredibly experienced and with that in mind, I would say not to worry about these metrics - build links for their traffic value alone.

As it turns out, a lot of links built purely based on how much traffic they can directly bring your site from the pages that they are on are also beneficial for SEO.

(Think: Guest blog posts, mentions in large publications, etc.)

Again, like I said, you're trying too hard.

People are obsessed with all these metrics and dofollow/nofollow. You've built spam comments to your site, and you think you're going to rank because Moz gives you a high DA?

One of my affiliate sites is DA35-DA40 and is firmly sitting at #1 for a competitive "review" type search. I'm beating out Amazon, who I assume has a DA of 99 (haven't checked).

SEO requires common sense, and you're lacking it at the moment. There's a reason you say people think you don't know anything - it's most likely because you don't know anything.

Better focus on the quality of your site content rather than wandering yourself in backlinks.
