Was reading an article on flippa that stated that they were dead and generate very little to no income. Is this true?

It has to depend on the Niche. I seriously doubt ALL micro niche site are dead.

What if you had a list of 100k and you sent that list a link to your micro niche site in that niche, do you think you would get any traffic? OF COURSE!

They may be talking as far as ranking, but I still can't believe they're not valid anymore. There's always money to be from newer and newer strategies being implemented on older sales models.

No they are not dead. They work well, it depends on the traffic and value of the site for your visitors. If the site is unique they can be sold for several hundred dollars on Flippa.

    Micro-niche sites still works. Period.
I have created a micro-niche site in November 2013 after following Spencer's case study. It is still ranking in Google and earning $$$/monthly on auto-pilot. I monetized it with Amazon. Micro-niche site still works but you need to be smart enough to make it look like authoritative. I am not asking you to fool Google but instead of just adding review articles, add valuable content i.e how-to, DIY, guides, latest events & news, etc.

No, it's all about not building thin sites with crap content. Everyone things they have good content, but it is usually crap. Microsites can definitely still rank, but it more difficult considering G is favoring authority sites.
