Rank for Product you don't have

Hi,
I wonder how this website is doing this:
there is a product search engine (for wine) and you will find a lot of SERPs in Google for products that aren't even listed in this product search engine. For example you search for Wine XYZ in Google and this product search engine will have a SERP for this wine with text like "are you looking for Wine XYZ?" If you klick the link in this SERP you reach a page where it tells you that this product is not listed, but you can ask them to put it in their system.
Do you have any idea how they are doing this? They got a ton of good rankings from this.

    That product could have been indexed in the past, while it existed on the site and it remained indexed, or the website uses as a keyword the name of that particular product to drive traffic on the site.
