Google SERP Observation: Single website callouts

This is my first post here at the forums (though I've been reading off and on for a while). Please forgive me if I am posting in the wrong thread. I searched for this topic in other threads but found nothing.

Yesterday I came across this strange callout in the SERPs. I had never seen this before, so my thinking is that this is just a Google test (I cannot replicate the result today).

I checked the source code for clues, thinking perhaps there was specific Schema responsible for the display. All I found was <span id="seoblurb1">, which would be unique to the website rather than a universal markup format.

It looks like a Knowledge Graph display, but the information isn't answering a specific question (or anything else that would generally show knowledge graph responses).

Has anyone else seen this?

Very interesting. This is probably just taken from the site's description!

To me, it looks like an attempt to push the number one organic results clickable link lower so that the Adwords ads can be given more room.

Google have been increasing the Ads CTR year on year!

I've seen similar SERPs while searching Google on a Kindle, which wasn't the same results shown on a desktop. It's most likely something Google is testing that won't last for long.

IMO it looks totally out of place compared to both PPC & current search listings.

My wife has been in the hospital for the last couple of weeks, the Kindle is all I have to work with (mobile). Needless to say, I'm behind work by at least two weeks but family comes first, everything else can wait. The Kindle beats cable TV, 50 channels of nothing...

I hear ya. Sorry to hear about the better half, I hope she has a quick recovery from whatever she has going on. Hospitals are absolutely no fun.

My first thread and already I've encouraged sad trombones. Sorry to hear about the family situation yukon.

I hope the results are just a test. I am unable to replicate them today, so I assume they are.

I wasn't trying to derail your thread, just noticed the SERP results for one of my own keywords while browsing with a tablet/Kindle was similar to the organic SERP box (OP image). Looks like your OP screenshot is desktop, based on the PPC ads & right sidebar which doesn't show on mobile.

          It's all good.

I've learned that anytime Google does a search results change to always get a screenshot like you did with OP because a lot of times you won't see it twice. They probably test a lot of visual things on the SERPs that never get much attention because it's impossible to trigger the same results.

One thing I've noticed over the years is things like this (SERP testing new stuff) happens around 3 AM (EST), which is midnight Mountain View CA time.
