Staying Aware of Google Search Algorithm Update

It's not easy to stay aware or even being aware of when the search algorithm has been updated by Google. Most of the time, it is only after few days have been passed and the traffic has been hit by these updates, that the webmaster first hear about them.

Although there is no way to predict such changes, it is possible to monitor and spot any unusual behavior using custom tools. Some of which I have used in the past (and continue to use are):

Algoroo

Google Algorithm Updates History | Rank Ranger

MozCast - The Google Algorithm Weather Report

These tools shows any major changes in SERP graphically.

What tools do you use for such algorithm monitoring?

Cool indeed, I like the thought behind these as it does help keep you aware of whats happening in the SERPs as a whole.

I think the fluctuations that we are seeing are from isolated niches/keywords that Google is doing testing on for the next Penguin.

As you can see the small subset they are testing are making some of these checkers go crazy. Just wait till it's rolled out.
