Google penalized my website for certain keywords only

hello, I have been getting SEO with some company, but now in October my website ( home page ) disappeared from Google for the keywords I gave the company to seo. For other keywords my website still ranking, and for the specific seo.ed keywords the home page dissapeard. An inner page still present in page 2, but the home page used to be #1 page1.

Is there any way to reverse this problem? The company says they don't find any problem with their work or back links or whatever they been doing, and the best is to start a new domain and duplicate the website content. Is this the only way to come back #1?

    If there is nothing wrong with their work or backlinks, why would they suggest a new domain? That makes no sense.

    Without seeing the work they have done, nobody is going to be able to offer you anything more than a wild guess really.

    Yes I agree, and the worst is that their service doesn't offer any monthly report or whatsoever. That is one of their weakness I think. Been good for about a year, but don't know what happened.

      I don't do anything outside of ranking reports for clients that ask for them myself, so that is not too unusual.

      Ah, so this wasn't something recent. You have been working with them for awhile.

      It could be they changed what they were doing. It could be one of the recent Google updates too. The fact that you have a page on page 2, leads me to believe it is likely something more wrong onsite than anything they did offsite.

    It's one of the worst situation you can find yourself in because you pretty much have no idea regarding what to do. I believe the company should spend more time trying to figure out what went wrong instead of suggesting you to register a brand new domain. By doing so you will have to start over and I don't really see the point of trying to get a new domain either. I would suggest you to file a reconsideration request and explain the situation to Google, perhaps they might help you get out of that problem.

    It probably is bad link building and SEO. I consult a lot of site owners and many that have run into problems think that their SEO is great, and are just kidding themselves.

    These days if you employed an SEO company in the last 5 years theres a very good chance you have bad links that will cause issues, especially with the next penguin update.

    I'd really dive deep into your links or let someone that knows what they are doing do so. I'm sure you may be shocked at the results.

    Top rankings don't just happen to drop like a rock, there's something more going on.

    Yes the thing is I didnt do any changes OnSite. Maybe i should do some changes to see if they crawl and make it rank better for those keywords.

    Any links to summit a reconsideration of ranking to google @greatar4 ?

      You don't have to do onsite changes. Google often makes changes in how they rank sites. Recently they refreshed their Panda algorithm, which is all about site structure and content. That could be what you got caught in.

    The SEO mentioning to abandon the domain is a red flag IMO. The only reason that would make since is If your link profile is horrible (links out of your control). So the question is, who built the crappy link profile?

    Nobody drops a domain just because it has poor site structure, things like that can be fixed whenever you want (today, tomorrow, next year...). I've overhauled complete websites (site structure) it's time consuming but so is anything else related to SEO. Defiently not a reason to drop a domain.

    Yes im not planning to drop the domain because it is ranking for other keywords the seo company wasnt focusing in. Including the home page ranking for other keywords, just not the keywords i gave the SEOs.

    I will look into internal linking and maybe some outbound links i think. i guess that might help?
