    1. They will usually disappear after a short while.
    2. The links won't have any relevance to your niche so they won't be considered as 'strong' as natural link building.

  • Paid backlinks look unnatural to search engines. They can rank you faster but not for long. I think the biggest disadvantage is risking your website for unnatural linkbuilding methods. Paying for backlinks is not a good investment. Instead of spending money on paid links, you can spend it on other important things like social media advertising or solo ads.

Hi, You can buy back links if the link is related to your niche. But, Its all depends on price and validity of link. Page authority and domain authority should be high. I would like to recommend content marketing to get quality back links from niche based websites with good Alexa rank.

Search engines do not like people buying back links and as a result they might exclude your website from there index without any previous warning.

Search engine don't like paid links because most of the paid links comes from spam website . But If you are professional you still can buy links from high DA , PA and reputed niche related websites and those links will be very relevant to your website . But you need to be carefull that should be come from a new page with a natural look .
On the other had if you buy links randomly it may be vary risky for your site because ,They might be not in your niche and from Spam domains . So be careful on your job . Good luck

It costs money = not a disadvantage.

Search engines don't care. If you don't tell them you bought the link they don't know you bought it, so how can they exclude you.

If you buy stupid backlinks, you get little in return. The same is true if you create stupid backlinks. The stoopid is not in whether you paid money or time but in your skills.

How can effective and "quickly improve" rankings be a disadvantage? And what the hell is with buying links won't get you links naturally? Nothing gets you natural backlinks except the quality of your content. You send people with ads or SEO, or solo ads to a crappy piece of content, none of the visitors will link to you. Send them to content they like, some will.

If they disappear after a short while, it's because you didn't know how to buy.

If you buy links on pages that are relevant to your page, THE LINKS YOU BUY WILL HAVE RELEVANCE TO YOUR NICHE!

If I sell a Chicago mortgage broker a link to his Pitfalls of Reverse Mortgage page from my Changes to Reverse Mortgages page on my Dallas Reverse Mortgage site, the link, though bought, is highly relevant!

Don't buy links from irrelevant sites and you will not have links from irrelevant sites! Duh!

If I spend $100 on paid links and get $1,000 in return and spend $100 on social media and get $75 in return, which one is more important?

How does that thinking even make sense?

Important is the method you know how to use to get results you like. Just because YOU don't know how to buy backlinks doesn't mean buying backlinks is bad. Really!

If they, whoever they is, do not offer strong links, don't buy from they. Find someone else.

What do you think you're doing when you pay Google to show 3 lines about your company with a link inside?

Did you ever notice that nobody, and I mean nobody, buys an ad on Google's adwords platform without getting a link?

    You people are completely clueless.

Search engines (READ: GOOGLE) does not hate them. Never did, never will.

Paid links make the internet world go 'round.

Google NEVER NEVER EVER said anything about hating paid links.
Why would they? They make billions on them.

They don't know a paid link from a hole in the wall. Unless you tell them.

They are not monitoring anything. You people are so friggin' clueless as to how google and the internet work, it's pathetic.

Link brokers are great for finding places to put links.

    NEWSFLASH: Just google it! ROTFLMAO!

If google hates them, you will get zero results.

I just did. For fun. Got millions of results.....and the kicker? Google puts an adwords ad on top!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That is rich.

    Paid links can be golden.

You people keep settling for bronze.

What is really pathetic, is that you people keep touting links that suck:
forum sigs * blog commenting * directories * trading * yada yada yada

Either way you're trading something for backlinks... so just look for the best value.

Either you spent a ton of time & money building the content
Or you spent a ton of time getting them yourself
    Or you're buying them.

Spend the less amount as possible and get the biggest reward for your time/money. That's how you succeed with SEO

  • They do have some legit points caused by poor buying experiences, eg 'the links usually break in months'

We've tried numerous vendors ourselves in the past and used quite a few VA's to build links at public platforms and when they start ignoring instructions and start to spam blatantly you'll see that the stick rate of links is rather low. The same applies to cheap PBN link sellers that deal with high deindex rates due to a number of reasons, those links won't stick very long either.

Compare that to posting on a forum yourself with a sig link or manual commenting cause you have something real to contribute to the discussion, or even a web directory where you carefully choose the right sub directory to post in instead of some software blast that fails to fill in several fields, and posts in beauty instead of automotive.

Obviously it would look unnatural to Google to see a comment on a page about finance linking out to the top 5 lawn mowers, well unnatural at least not relevant and that is what often happens when you purchase low quality links.

And believe me, it's not easy to avoid those sellers if you buy your links from online forums or freelance sites so I'm not that surprised to see a number of these complains. Most of these links are being advertised as pure gold etc so good luck to the average starter. Even we got tricked a number of times based on completely false promises made in sales threads (PBN links), read again: A "number of times" so it's not like an isolated incident.

The problem with buying backlinks is that first they are costly and second since they are low quality or low pr links. Google algorithm can tell if you are buying links by looking at the back links because it can detect it easily that if a website has low page rank and a lot of back links are coming from low PR websites than it is not an natural link. It is better to create natural link.

When you do it for free, you're not doing it for free. Time is money. And, some of the activities some people do bring in so much more than what they'd save by getting links the way you suggest, they're losing money.

And two: why would your site be penalized? Because you're going about it the stupid way. Don't go about doing it the stupid way and your site will not get penalized.

Just don't buy links if you really want to rank well on Google. Paid links can bring serious problem to your website. You don't even know if the links you are buying will work, and there's a big possibility that they could be harmful to your site rankings in the long-run. Building quality backlinks takes time. If you can't do it by yourself, hire someone who can effectively do the job for you.

If you did not know already–buying backlinks is considered Black Hat SEO by the search engines. It is a way of manipulating your search engine results page ranking. The likes of Google have clamped down on this, so that anyone who is found to be buying or selling links is punished. The trouble is that it is harder to punish the people who are selling the backlinks, because they are often not listed on the Google search results anyway. This means there is nothing that the search engines can do to against the sellers of backlinks, but there is plenty that they can do to people who buy the backlinks, including banning them from ever appearing on their search engines again.

It's obvious that you have heard that Google changes its algorithm time to time and it effects the ranking of website harshly. So, it must be analyzed that your backlinks are of good quality and must linked with the niche of your website. Purchased backlinks wouldn't give you that must quality which could raise the rank of your website in search engines. They will hardly raise your rank to some extent but after few days they will disappear.

You all seem to be assuming that you can only buy backlinks in some stupid kind of manner that screams, "This is a paid link I bought with the sole purpose of manipulating you, Google!"

You know, it's possible to buy good backlinks, don't you?

      And buy in a way that Google can't tell you bought, right? (Or, do you, as soon as you buy a backlink, go to Webmaster tools and tell Google you bought it, where it's coming from and how much you paid for it?}

    - Most good ones are really high priced
    - They could disappear at any time, and you would be back in square one
    - Not liked by Google

    Just my opinion on them.

Owing to the fact that backlinks are one of the most influential factors behind SEO ranking, everyone would try all means possible to obtain relevant backlinks that would ultimately pay them off. Buying these links is a quick fix but comes with a prize. This act is considered unethical and a breach of guidelines of search engines. If caught, severe penalties are subjected to your website .This shall definitely put your website on a permanent black mark record which is not of welcome.

      Unethical?

Since when are Google's rules the Ethics?

I launched dozens of websites by now. At no time did I sign a contract with Google that I will take into account its desires and rules or a subset of them.

I launched the websites, Google, on its own, came by, spidered them, put them up in its index. Didn't ask me if I wanted it to do that, or anything else, didn't ask anything from me in exchange.

So, where does ethical / unethical come into play?

I dont think there is any disadvantage to buying links if you are buying from a high DA and authoritative domain. Make the article highly informative and related to your money site as well as to the source site.

    Guys-guys, common!
Who invented that term "bought links"?
    What does it mean?
Is it an catalogue like DMOZ... but it is worse... just a little bit.. for a SEO-lucky?)
    FORGET IT!
There is absolutely no difference between "bought" or "non-bought" links.
The difference is in the quality. ONLY in the quality!

I have seen very few cases where neg-SEO was claimed that couldn't be explained by other issues. Very often the sites claiming this have zero brand awareness, a 100% SEO marketing strategy (which is flawed) and very poor designs to begin with. In almost every case, links that fit the above profile are found on pages published well before these type of penalties were ever announced publicly.

Paid backlinks are extremely unnatural if not done right. Plus most of the sources from where you get these backlinks have high OBL, so the value of the link juice reduces drastically.
