What factors go into your niche choice?

I am seriously considering embarking on Josh Spalding's $5 Formula program. A couple of questions come to mind, and I was wondering if I could get some feedback from the folks here at WF.

When choosing the niche that you want to build sites around, do you consider the cost per click that Google charges? I know that no one really knows for sure what they are paying the site owners, and even different advertisers are paying different amounts. But, there are figures shown on the Google Keyword Tool, which many of us use for comparison, and that is the number I am referring to. If anyone has any other thoughts, please share them.

Do you choose niches that you have passion about and don't worry about the cost per click? Or is there some other factor that makes you choose a niche? I saw a fellow say that he has about 285 sites, so I can't imagine he has passion for all of those niches, and it is hard for me to believe that they are all in one or a few niches either.

Any other feedback on how you decide on the niches that you target, please share your thoughts. I don't expect anyone to share your niche(s), but I am open to anything you might have to offer.

Thanks for your feedback.

If I'm building Adsense sites, yes. What you see in the Adwords external tool is usually about 10-20% of what you'll get for an Adsense click. For example, the tool says $10, you'll get between $1-2. There's a lot of variation in this based on a wide range of variables though. For example, you might get a bunch of 50 cent clicks or even 5 cent clicks, then a $7 click. However, the average will generally fall within the range mentioned.

I have a passion for connecting people with stuff they want to buy at the best price possible while making money for myself.

I have never been able to give a good answer to that passion question. But bgmacaw, you have managed to put into words my passion, EXACTLY.

I appreciate your response and I am going to check out your blogs now.

A lot of courses will tell you to go after your passions first. Because it's supposed to make it easier to work on your projects.

But I remember reading what a big marketer said once (can't remember who it was...Reese, Kern, Shefren maybe?), focus on the markets were the money is (not always "make money online"). Once you work hard on your business and have money flowing in you can then pursue your passions. Our passions don't always involve markets where there's enough money to be made.
