Hello

I am currently ranked 6th for a specific keyword, and that keyword is available as a .com and .co.uk.

If I as to purchase these domains, and attach them to my current domain.

Would ranking increase? Even though it's not my primary root domain.

It might be a good idea to consider getting the .com if you can get it for reg fee. I mean you are talking like $10 a year here. I wouldn't any rank gain from directing it, but it might have some value and get some traffic. Also it could prevent your competition from getting it

Go for the .com and it should be able to help you with your traffic and ranking.

The domain on it's own isn't going to ever rank a page.

If that domain has a good backlink profile, that could possibly rank your page. Do the link profile research.

What do you mean by attaching it to your current domain? There is no way to attach it.

If you mean redirecting it, then no. There is no boost from doing that. Domains do not give a boost just because the keyword is in the domain. Now if it has links pointing at it, that's a different story.

    What are your goals?

Is this keyword profitable for you?

Do you have an actual business model built around it? In the UK?

Is $20 a lot of money for you?

Think all of that through, and the answer should become easier to see.

I will not hesitate to buy a domain (worth $10/yr) for the said purpose - if I were you.

    Why?

    1. You will be able to get extra traffic to your site because there will always be people that will type "your keyword" + ".com" in the address bar of their browser. You will have all those people landed on your site.

    2. If someone else buys the same domain name, it means a "new competitor". You don't need a new competitor, right?

    3. There are situations when you have to move your entire domain to a new domain (Google penalties, change in business model etc.). You will always have this additional domain to work for you.

    4. I personally feel, as a business grows, it needs multiple domain names for several reasons. In the long-run, it is not a bad idea to have an extra domain name.

Nope. Your rankings won't increase unless you build links to those domains before redirecting them to your site. Keyword in domain no longer influences rankings like it did before the EMD update.

Your site will rank well regardless of your TLD extension so long as it's considered the authority site for your keyword(s).
