How much I can make from a small adsense site?

All the gurus say to pick up main keyword around 1,000 to 3,000 searches a month, but I'm wondering if it's not too low?
How many will click on the adsense ads? only 5-6 persons a month? and I will get 0.10$ for each?
I'm confused.. How can someone makes money like this

    You are asking how long is a piece of string without any info about the string.

    With an AdSense optimized website you might push a CTR of 5%, but don't assume that's what you'll get. My network ranges from 0.5% (classic literature, bloody rubbish AdSense niche) to around 5% (travel seems to do well).

    Amount per click depends on the niche, literature for example lucky to make 15 cents a click (did I mention awful niche :-)). Some niches can be dollars per click. Again don't assume that's what you'll get.

    Use the Google AdWords Keyword Planner Tool (it's free) to see what advertisers are will to pay for various niches and how much traffic is available. Note that's not what you'll get per click, that's what Google gets and they give you a share (68% last time I checked).

      But my question is, How with a keyword with 1000-3000 searches a month I can make an income..
      Even if I'll get 15 cents per click, it will be only a few pennies a month for one site, or am I mistaken?

    Sure you can choose a keyword with much higher search volume but it will almost certainly take you longer to rank for that keyword.

    Monetizing a site from scratch is a balance of generating revenue from small wins early on that over years accumulate into significant revenue.

      But If I'll take a keyword with more than 3,000 monthly searched I won't be able to rank it
      And even if I'll rank for some keyword with 7,000 I will be 3,000 let's say visitors to my site, what means few pennis a month..
      Or am I mistaken with the calculation?

    There are three factors to making money from AdSense.

    Traffic
    Cost Per Click
    Click Through Rate

    Examples:

    Traffic = 1,000
    Cost Per Click = $0.15
    Click Through Rate = 5%

    $7.50 from AdSense

    Traffic = 1,000
    Cost Per Click = $0.50
    Click Through Rate = 2%

    $10.00 from AdSense

    Traffic = 10,000
    Cost Per Click = $2.50
    Click Through Rate = 3%

    $750 from AdSense

    Edit: these are hypothetical examples, so the OP understands the math.

    Like I said you are asking how long is a piece of string.

    Go research the niche you want to target and determine potential traffic, cost per click and guess the CTR (it's going to be between 0.25% and 5% at best). Every niche will give different numbers.

        Go do the research using the free Google AdWords Keyword Planner Tool.

        No one is going to do the research for you and say target the iPhone 6 Cases SERPs, there's some easy traffic, it pays $2.50 a click and the CTR on my iPhone 6 Case site is 15%.

    The best way to go about this is to find a market you want to dive into.

    Check if it's profitable by heading over to Google keyword planner. If you can sum up 20,000+ targeted traffic for your market then you have a good business in your hands waiting to be explored.

    Pick your keywords most likely any term that generates 2,400+ and CPC of $1+, remember the total number of traffic search should be 20,000+.

    Create a high converting site with less distractions.

    Optimize your ads, preferably use 2 ads per page. You will need to experiment with the ads to know which one converts better.

    Read the Adsense TOS over and over again, they can be wild and free.

    Rank your site for your keywords.

    Rinse and repeat the process in other niche.

    Branch into other business models.

    You may want to have something rewarding on your site like a giveaway or download link.
    It pays to help you stay relevant in the eyes of Adsense.
