Best Marketing Strategy for a Niche Fitness Website/eBook

Greetings,
I am starting a new fitness website and plan on targeting a specific niche of people. I have plans for the type of content I want on my site as well as an ebook I will create and sell in upcoming months.
Right now my question is related to the best ways to market this type of website. I have been learning a lot about keyword research and SEO related to niche sites and the problem I'm seeing is that it will be extremely hard to rank for anything other than long tail keywords because the fitness industry is so large almost every topic is ranked for on google by authority sites like bodybuilding.com.
Therefore, it doesn't seem like it would matter if I name my website after a specific keyword phrase (such as "building muscle") since there is no way I could rank for it.
Instead, my plan is to focus on producing high quality content, and optimizing that content for long tail keywords I do have potential to rank for. On top of that I will build a Youtube Channel, Facebook Page, Google+ Page, and promote through my twitter and instagram accounts.
I have looked at related sites in similar niches I want to be in and this seems to be the strategy they are using. Of the two sites I have been researching heavily neither of the site's names contain the top keywords they rank for in there website URL. Regardless, both sites receive less than 30% of their traffic from search engines but they both still receive over 50,000 visitors per month.
