Penguin 3.0 ..... Not Good - NEED HELP

Hey guys, So i own a carpet cleaning company in Seattle and over the last year have built a really nice site and invested a lot of money into SEO to get the website ranked organically. A few days ago, i noticed that our site dropped from being in the top 5 for all of our keywords to being ranked #91 etc.

I know we got hit by this new update - so the question is, who knows someone that is seriously talented at SEO that won't get us flagged by google constantly that can get us back on track from this setback?

I know there are a lot of warriors for hire - but not sure who to trust etc. Any recommendations?

By saying "Invested a lot of money in SEO", can you be more specific? What links were built? That would help sort of reverse-engineer what ought to be done vs. what ought not to be done

Blog comment backlinks on Brazillian blogs and Prestashop profiles?

If you invested lots of money in SEO, you got duped.

If Jezter did a backlink check and that's what he found, and that's what you got out of the deal,

In seriousness, you need to counteract the bad links with strong links. Disavow and all that is iffy as far as working. Like, if you have a bad crop, mowing the bad crop won't help much if you don't sow new, good crop.

I have all the backlinks from my webmasters tools but I'd really like to get a more thorough understanding of what links probably caused this issue and when they took place.

I hired a company in Texas and they started working for us in... I think, June or July.

Before then I hired a local WarriorForum guy. How would I find out the date that these backlinks were created etc?

And more importantly, how do I quickly fix this?

This will be difficult. First you have to identity all of the spam links and then you have to disavow them. The big problem you will have is that your disavow file will not be processed, in relation to Penguin, until the next penguin refresh which could be a long time.

In my experience penguin penalties are heavier than manual penalties because of the uncertain time frame between penguin updates.

The best report of link date stuff is probably from AHrefs. You can get an account there, or see if there's a service in Warriors for Hire or SEOClerks to get a report run by someone who has an account.

If you sign up for a free account, you can get data on a limited number of your backlinks, but you could probably extrapolate from there when these links were created.

PM me your email address, I'll send you what I can from SEO Spyglass. It's by no mean comprehensive, and about 90% of your backlinks seem to be from pages that don't exist or are (at least for me, today) login only. Not sure if it's set up to let bot traffic like googlebot in or not.

Either way, just from the vague amount of looking at the URLS and any sort of preview I could find on the site...it was standard barely-English either spun or written by someone pretty obviously from overseas.

Interesting. Yeah It's hard to say because I know FOR SURE that one of the companies I hired from here was overseas. India or something. And the other company was in Texas, but everyone outsources everything these days so they could of very well outsourced it to india etc too.

No. I mean NO, NYET, Crappy services providers outsource not everyone . In fact outside of Internet marketing forums its almost never done. Get out of that thinking because sorry to say but Indian SEOs are for the most part operating three years behind in knowledge of Google updates.

Tell me how many links are you showing in webmaster tools and what was the story behind doing the 301. So far I am not convinced you got hit hard by Penguin

Never mind saw some of the links to your 301. Really crappy PBN blog set ups and a pretty suspect backlink profile. You'vee been getting some sucky SEO for awhile now. Either didn't spend much like you claim or got royally ripped

sorry but how do you '1000% cleaned' something? Have you read the content on the homepage? I would say its clearly been SEO'd maybe consider de-optimizing and writing some decent text, you really don't need to include 'seattle carpet cleaning' (and variations) so many times.

Your only option to recover is to remove the links.

    Disavow will not work.
Building more high PR links will not work either.

Until you fix the original problem your site will continue to have it's low rankings. Removing links, deleting the garbage that's pointed to your site and waiting for the next refresh is your only course of action that will work.

Spending time building links right now will make things tougher down the road and will not help you. Just take a look at all forum posts from guys like you that went out and built MORE links after the last Penguin update. They are still penalized.

That's not how you recover from Penguin. Don't add more fuel to the fire.

What about this, I build you a site, rank it, and you rent it from me.

How much will you pay me per month for a site that already ranks (in case it stops ranking you stop paying) so in other words you rent the site from me on a month to month contract.

What about this? Self-promotion is against forum rules. What about this? Don't follow nik0's advice.

..and to think I gave him the benefit of the doubt.. my bad.

You ask for a solution, I offer it risk free, what's wrong with that?

It's kind of like PPC where the traffic also stops when you stop paying, this is just cheaper.

Do keep in mind that most SEO providers also remove the links when you cancel the subscription (often in the small letters of the contract), just thought I mentioned as many are not aware of that.

Instead of hiring on forums and outsourcing sites, search for SEO providers and talk to them about their services on the phone or face to face.

If they can't explain it to you in a way that you understand and can agree with - find another SEO. If they won't explain their plan (at least in some high level detail) before cashing your check or charging your card...find another SEO.

Any time an SEO has a monthly package (particularly if they have multiple monthly packages) that guarantee how many new links they are going to build for you each month is just asking for a GSA blast on your site.

At this point your best bet may just to start with a fresh domain.

    Very good advice.

The EMD domain is crap. Look at what your competitors are doing.

There are 2-3 very obvious EMD/PMD idiots in your space. The first one I saw only seems to be in the Local pack because they have a few G+ reviews, and a quick look says they're all fake. Every one has little to no followers, less than 10 posts, and ONE review...for that carpet cleaning company.

Pretty much the same for 2 other ones with very spammy partial match domains. To the point where their own websites are written by fiverr gig idiots with the usual missing grasp of the English language, using bold tags on every potential keyword phrase, etc.

Everyone else has what appears to be a very basic cookie cutter services website with no optimization (other than backlinks - I didn't check those on competitors). Visually, they suck balls.
