Same domain as the keyword I'm aiming to rank

Hi,
Do having an url being the exact keyword I am trying to rank with gives me really an advantage?
For example, if I would like to rank with the keyword "restaurant dallas" and I have a domain called restaurantdallas.com, would I have an advantage? How valuable this advantage is?

    It did have an advantage, and a fairly big one. Up until a couple of years ago, when Google took measures against people manipulating the advantage.

    The Google Exact Match Domain Update

    Some people have run case studies with claims of a slight advantage remaining, but in my opinion. If the EMD is available, then take it. If anything it may have some investment value or brand value to own it if the search volume is decent.

    Yes, keyword anchor-text does help rank pages & any other file type that Google indexes in the SERPs.

    I won't burn my bridge & go into detail how it's still easily proven in 2014. Just take my word for it.

      Keyword anchor-text? I'm talking about the domain being similar or exact to the keyword I'm doing SEO on.

        Lol, sorry about that. I missed that one by a mile, even quoted OP.

        Looks like your asking about EMDs (Exact Match Domains). Google isn't putting much weight on them (EMDs) but you can probably use them on Yahoo or Bing, they're about 10 years behind Google on algo updates.

        Personally, I keep all my domain names as short as possible & still make since for the niche.

    if the EMD is available its worth getting - in terms of being easier to rank for its keyword then it used to have a much bigger impact than now - however exact match domains still rank just treat them like any other domain ---

    I agree with Yukon, I would much rather have a shorter/branded domain

    It depends on what you are trying to do with the site.
    If I don't give a damn what people care about the domain name or it just looks more professional than I'll do it. I've ranked sites to no. 1 with the keyword as the domain + .com, so something must be working for me.

    Yeah its a best advantage, because your keyword is your domain. It will get page rank easily and it will increases your website traffic.
