Hi Guys,

my 3 websites ranking dropped by penguin 3.0. these were just 5 page websites. Now i can recover these but cant wait for another year update after lot of work. so i have some questions:

1 - if i create new pages on that same website, is it possible that they can rank?
2 - if i create another website is it good idea to copy the content from penalised website?
3 - can i just buy the same domain with .net instead of .com(penalised). is it safe?

How do you know that your website got penalized. You should first go through the webmasters tools -> Manual action tab.

In past week lot of websites faced ranking issues and my suggestions is wait for few more days, if your ranking position will not resume then take further actions.

Let me know if you have received any message from Google.

        Well in that case

        1. You have to go through all backlinks mentioned in the webmasters tools then trace out bad links and remove as much as possible.
        2. Update the content of the pages that were ranking before.
        3. Keep the keyword density between 2-4%
        4. Google does not show all links in the webmasters so you need to find out bad link with online tools such as backlinkwatch, ahref etc.. and remove all possible links.
        5. After removing the links, fetch as google bot and submit it for indexing.
        6. Wait for 24 hours and see if it has any effect on keyword ranking

        Hope it helps

Yes; ignore what SEO's from India say would be a good start.

All you can do is get rid of the crap links and attract good natural ones and wait for the Penguin algorithm to re-run. The assumption is that it will re-run soon. This one took a yr as they had to rewrite the core of Penguin algorithm to apparently allow for more frequent updates of it.

    Hi there!

Before i answer your questions, it is good to note that the new penguin update is mostly focused around de-indexing and de-valuing the bad backlinks. Your website might not necessary be penalized but it mostly lost the value of backlinks that it had.

Q1). If i create new pages on that same website, is it possible that they can rank?
It is surely worth the try as long as you fix your marketing techniques and stay away from black hat linking methods.

Q2). If i create another website is it good idea to copy the content from penalized website?
If you decided to move to a new website, you can surely copy the content but you need first to delete it from your old site. Keep in mind though that your content must be original and of high quality or else, it is not worth moving.

Q3). Can i just buy the same domain with .net instead of .com (penalized). Is it safe?
Every new domain has its own records in Google, there are no relations between domains.

In summary, before moving to any new website, check first what went wrong and revise your marketing methods. Be sure as well to double check if your site is really penalized or it is just matter of link demotion. Make sure to check for messages at Google webmaster tools as well.

    Hope that helps!

Thanks a lot for your precious reply. I think that may be the case that the links i created lost their value but ranking gone from no.3 to 185 and some to 260.

so i think its better to just start from scratch instead of trying to get it rank again and yes i have learnt a lot from this update and i will take care of it next time. I am new and still learning.

So, for example cleanseo.com gets penalised, can i just create another cleanseoservices.com and will it be fine??

If only this was the case. If Penguin only devalued links why did my rankings recover from the last Penguin only after REMOVING all the crappy links?

Devaluing and getting penalized are two greatly different things. If Google had devalued my links than I could have built links that fixed my rankings. But the only thing that worked was removing the links my previous SEO made.

    Hi,

If you think it was because of 'bad backlinks' then google offers a tool to write them off.

Once your keyword rankings dropped, it does not necessarily mean that your website got penalized, you have to first make sure by checking out your Google webmaster tool. if you decide to conti ue your seo campaign, you should be knowledgeable of the Google algorithm and never ever try black hat seo, and make sure that you have unique quality content.

I would suggest you to remove site from G index through webmaster central and then to move the whole site to a new domain..

In my experience, you can rank new site faster as you can fix the old one..

I run 50 niche sites and in the bad scenario I always move content to another domain. In this update I lost 15 sites and I replace all of themin in just a few days..

    Answers:
Q - If i create new pages on that same website, is it possible that they can rank?
Nope.. Penalized is the whole domain..

2 - If i create another website is it good idea to copy the content from penalised website?
In my opinion yes, but you have to deindex all content/pages from penalized site

3 - Can i just buy the same domain with .net instead of .com(penalised). is it safe?
Yes, Is it safe, but I think the domain with .net TLD are not the best in google eyes..

    Hope this helps..

You may recover from Penguin attack.

Google looks at the QUALITY of links that are linking to your site. That means, you should be linking from sites that have "authority in the eyes of Google." You MUST be linking from sites that are RELATED to your niche.

One of the best ways of recovering your sites is doing guest blogging on influential sites/ blogs in your niche. Then insert a link that directs to your sites. You may do Google search to find quality sites/ blogs. You may guest blog once per day for 20 days. The purpose is rebuild your links and make it look natural to the "eyes of Google." Guest blogging works great and will provide you with massive quality traffic to your sites. The key to guest blogging is nothing short of providing QUALITY information.

Before moving down to any conclusions, let first make sure through Google webmaster tools that actually your site got penalized or not.. If not then just wait for a couple of days as latest penguin updates have been affected to a large number of websites..

First of all, make an audit of the links to your site - are they from relevant sites with good authority.

1 - if i create new pages on that same website, is it possible that they can rank?
    - Google loves fresh, unique and consistent valuable content, so the more you add, the better your rankings will go.

2 - if i create another website is it good idea to copy the content from penalised website?
    - If you just copy the content, this will lead to duplicated content (same content on two different sites), so you will have to redirect everything from the old site to the new one with 301.

3 - can i just buy the same domain with .net instead of .com(penalised). is it safe?
    - You can move to site with the same domain but different TLD (top level domain - net, info..), but should follow the advice from point 2.

    Good luck!

Sorry but, this is not true..

      1. If site has been penalized by G, new content will not resolve the issue at all. Poor backlinks are the main reason for G penalty.

      2. More content doesn't mean better rankings..

      1. 301 redirect from penalized site to a new site is very dangerous strategy, because you can hurt a new site..

OP, if I was you I wouldn't do anything and won't come to any conclusion as of now. Because, this particular Penguin update is not yet done, its still rolling out as stated by Google's spokesperson John Mueller. So its too early to decide something and do something. I suggest you wait for few more weeks until the dust settles down.

18 Days Later, Google Penguin 3.0 Continues To Slowly Roll Out Worldwide

At least we know 45% is BS. Nobody ever tweeted a page to #1 in Google SERPs.

Obviously he visited moz a few times.

The only way you can recover from Penguin is to undo the bad links pointed to your website. No you cannot create new pages and rank again. Starting over again is a wasted effort especially if you don't know what you did to cause a problem the first go around. I have been hearing that Google will update Penguin again just after 2015. I would bet when Matt Cutts returns from his extended trip.
