    Do you mean rank on the Singapore version of Google: https://www.google.com.sg/?gws_rd=ssl

    Or because you are hosted in Singapore is it harder to rank in Google.com?

        Interesting SEO question, not one I've had to deal with before.

        You are locked into being associated to Canada see https://support.google.com/webmaster...er/62399?hl=en so can't choose an alternative country with the ca domain.

        Doesn't mean you won't rank in Google Singapore, just means no preferential treatment. Ranking in any of the country specific Google's is the same as Google.com, only difference is the country specific domains have a slight edge (don't know how much) and at anytime could be running a slightly different algo.

        I register .co.uk domains for the small UK boost.
        I'm targeting the SEO Tutorial SERP and my rankings on a .co.uk domain are:

        Google.com = 12th
        Google.co.uk = 9th
        Google.com.sg = not top 50
        Google.co.in = 29th

        If Singapore is your main target audience have you considered buying a Singapore TLD, move the current content to it and 301 redirecting?

        This is if Singapore is your main target, not Canada is your main target, but you want Singapore traffic as well.

        Also take into account with 301 redirects there's a dampening factor on the link benefit, assume it's similar to the PR dampening factor (there's a Matt Cutts video explaining it, from memory he said around 10%). So you'll loose ~10% of your 301 redirects link benefit if you do this, so make sure it's worthwhile.

    It's not relevant, ranking doesn't Depends on where you are it's all about high quality back links with high DA&PA.

    Yes, it will be harder because .ca domains are country-specific domains while .com domains are general domain names.

    Doesn't matter.. In G webmaster central you have to set singapore as a target country and your rank will be better in .com.sg

    Just set the targeted country to Singapore in GWT. Also, the country specific domain surely ranks on that particular region. And when it comes to local search, you are likely to get ranked in .ca rather than .sg far better. It doesn't affect anything if your hosting is from another country or the place you are in.

        Country-specific domains cannot bet set to a different region or to "unlisted" in GWT. You are stuck with Canada if you have a .ca domain and that will certainly not help with your rankings in Singapore. In SEO you want to have every possible advantage you can get. I would suggest to buy a .sg and put a 301 redirect on the .ca that leads to it. Might lose a bit of link juice that way now, but if you keep the .ca you will suffer from the wrong geo-location forever.

    Well, it all depends upon the keyword selection and it also depends upon when you are selecting a keyword for domain. Yes extension is also very important and can be very effective in increasing your site as well.

    This take time to improve the visibility of .ca website rank in Google search compare to .com website. But you can do this by creating the SERP on local searches and other directory. Try to post quality content and create inbound links for your website.
    This help you well to improve your website ranking.

    The main benefit is that it gives you a recurring income (and I am sure you’ll agree this is a massive plus point! You get paid each and every month for as long as the person remains a member of your site. One subscriber paying you $27 a month is worth $324 to you over the course of a single year, and here is the best bit – you only have to sell to them ONCE. How much easier is that than trying to sell to the same people over and over again? All you need to do is to get them to continue their membership by providing quality content. This is much, much easier than selling.

    Hey, Local domain extension is a local ranking factor. If you check local ranking factor you will found it.
    I think, if you buy a .sg domain and redirect to .ca - .sg is best for local rank.

    In SEO, all the factors (more than 200 factors of SEO) are counted and they are accumulated that results in higher ranking. While the domain extension is very important factor, you should use a matching extension according to your targeted country.

    Since you are pertaining to ranking in SG, well it matters if you target where..because at some point, domain is necessary to rank. With this, there are certain way to rank in Singapore, for instance.

    1. Localize content. Make sure Singaporean will understand it fully.
    2. Get backlinks from site around SG.
    3. Get involved with people of SG alone (international if that's included in your goal.)
    4. Socialize to SG in general.

    Hope i help.
