Putting linked pins on pinterest - safe from Google?

Will Google see pinterest pins as 'backlinks' or do they not register them?

Is it safe to put promoted pins with links on pinterest?

It is a normal thing for businesses to do.

    Any type of social bookmarking site is safe to add links to and won't get penalized.

      I tend to disagree with that, a link on a page next to a ton of other irrelevant links might hurt your rankings.

      Take a second to think of other links that Google isn't too crazy about: Web directories, blog comment spam, and there the same thing often applies, a link next to dozens of other irrelevant links, that's a footprint Google can easily pick up.

      The way I used to run my private blog network was set up in a similar way, tons of different topics / links next to each other.

      Nowadays I completely adjusted my network (I even took a network down) and am using excerpts on homepage / category pages now to avoid having the link show up next to irrelevant ones.

      I also have a few bookmark sites in my network, there I changed the settings to use excerpts as well. I see you promote a bookmark site in your signature so I recommend you to do the same, 1, 10 or even 25 of such links won't hurt, but when you get too many it will have a bad effect on your rankings.

    Pinterest is a great website for marketing. You must surely add it to your social media marketing plan.

    It mostly helps you in driving targeted traffic. It does not help much in terms of rankings. Still though it is a very nice and decent marketing technique. Keep your images meaningful, relevant and name them properly while sharing.
