PR 4 Without quality backlinks

I noticed following site. There are no any quality backlinks to the site when i check it's backlink profile using ahrefs, majectic seo and opensite explore. how it happened? But it has PR 4. Do you have any thoughts?

    Easy - it had backlinks as Majestic seo shows but it lost them. PR has not been updated for a year so it is still showing PR4. Good example of why PR means nothing now.

    There are website's that are spamming and still have PR5 or PR4 now a days PR doesn't represent that website has quality backlinks or quality content in it.

    Either they are hiding their backlinks from backlink checkers or they've really lost their PR but the PR is still '4' because Google has not updated PR for 11 months now.

    Please note that Google does not update the Page Rank (PR) everyday. They have a random schedule for updating their PR and they don't announce clearly when they are doing so.

    In general though, you must not rely on the page rank when buying domains or marketing. You can use other metrics like: Citation Flow (CF) and Trust Flow (TF) from MajesticSEO - Domain Authority (DA) and Page Authority (PA) according to Moz. Those metrics are better when it comes to evaluating and analyzing the websites.

      Thanks for your comment. what are the minimum values of DA, PA, TF and CF for consider as a quality link.

      They're probably not going to update PR at all. Even if they do at some point for some reason, I'd suggest you start to live with the idea that "toolbar PR" is dead.

      There's no absolute values to give on any metrics. It depends on an individual page (not site), and it depends on the backlink profile and the internal link structure. I'd suggest that you try to evaluate sites and pages that you know to be decent, and see what kind of scores they get.

      Whatever metrics you end up using I think it's important to know the flaws in the system. Moz has a reputation of being easy to manipulate, and Majestic's topical scores are not accurate.
