    Hi,

Build your website with great SEO structure. Have someone who knows what they are doing set up your site the way Google likes it. Set your website up properly plays a big role in getting ranked. Plus, if you set it up properly then your main domain won't be so easily penalized from link building.

Start blogging! You need to learn to blog the right way (yes, there's a right way to blog from an SEO perspective). Blogging creates authority in Google's eyes around the niche you are in.

After a few months get a few high PR links if possible. Not too many! You want QUALITY and not quantity. Just be very careful and try to make sure the links are from high trust sites and relevant context.

That's it. Just remember, Google doesn't like to see new websites with lots of links. If you build your site properly and start blogging you should see results within a few months.

How to know what advice NOT to follow:

    1) Check the poster's join date with how many one line idiotic posts per day they can post to dump their crappy site sig link into as many threads as possible.

    2) Kick them in the nuts and tell them to go away.

    3) Follow ANYONE else's advice.

    Hi

    1. Publish relevant content
Quality content is the number one driver of your search engine rankings and there is no substitute for great content. Quality content created specifically for your intended user increases site traffic, which improves your site’s authority and relevance.

Identify a keyword phrase for each page. Think about how your reader might search for that specific page (with phrases like “mechanical engineering in Michigan,” “best applied physics program,” or “Michigan Tech degrees”). Then, repeat this phrase several times throughout the page—once or twice in the opening and closing paragraphs, and two to four more times throughout the remaining content.

Don’t forget to use bold, italics, heading tags, and other emphasis tags to highlight keyword phrases, but don’t overdo it.

Never sacrifice good writing for SEO. The best pages are written for the user, not for the search engine.

    2. Update your content regularly
You’ve probably noticed that we feel pretty strongly about content. Search engines do, too. Regularly updated content is viewed as one of the best indicators of a site’s relevancy, so be sure to keep it fresh.

    3. Metadata
When designing your website, each page contains a space between the <head> tags to insert metadata, or information about the contents of your page. If you have a CMS site, the UMC web team will have pre-populated this data for you:
    Title Metadata
Title metadata is responsible for the page titles displayed at the top of a browser window. It is the most important metadata on your page. For those with a CMS website, the web team has developed an automated system for creating the meta title for each webpage.

    Description Metadata
Description metadata is the textual description that a browser will use in your page search return. Think of it as your site’s window display—a concise and appealing description of what is contained within, with the goal of encouraging people to enter.

    Keyword Metadata
Keyword metadata are the search phrases that people type when they want to find your page. You’ll want to include a variety of phrases. However, don’t get greedy: if your list becomes excessive, the browser may completely ignore the data. As a general rule, try to keep it to about 6-8 phrases with each phrase consisting of 1-4 words. A great example would be "computer science degree."

    4. Have a link-worthy site
Focus on creating relevant links within the text. Instead of having “click here” links, try writing out the name of the destination. “Click here” has no search engine value beyond the attached URL, whereas “Michigan Tech Enterprise Program” is rich with keywords and will improve your search engine rankings as well as the ranking of the page you are linking to.

    5. Use alt tags
Always describe your visual and video media using alt tags, or alternative text descriptions. They allow search engines to locate your page, which is crucial—especially for those who use text-only browsers.

Nignx with HHVM on Amazon AWS multi-node clusters - Google can't get enough of them - some consultants gave us the architecture to use (Vanquish). Stupid fast little things they are - can outperform most Magento eCommerce sites even with a multi node micro instance setup.

To rank an affiliate site within a short time, all you need do is wait for a long time. You simply cannot rank one within a "very short time". You'll have to do everything necessary (on page + off page SEO) and then wait while still building quality links and adding content to your site. With time, it will rank at the top, hopefully #1.

You can add all the affiliate products you can get (100-200), make a short description for each one (try to be original and carefully optimize the content for the right keywords for each product). All these pages will be indexed in google real fast if you follow basic seo rules. So no tricks, just add quality content.

You really are not very switched on - your suggestion is to wait - hahahahaha - that's pathetic. Well of course it's nonsensical to an seo sevice provider who doesn't have any clue how Google works and wants to generate chargeable time - the problem you have is that we already did. It's the method we use ourselves for the past couple of years. No manual seo, no marketing, no backlinks - they are just nice to have - now the problem is that they wouldn't need seo or ppc service providers - but we see that as a nice problem to have.

Just read your other posts in this thread and I have to say your advice is not applicable to someone looking for a way to rank affiliate sites quickly. The OP probably needs cash fast so you can't expect him to use the kind of hosting services that big brands use. That's overkill for a small affiliate site.

Impressive, that just shows you are even less switched on than we gave you credit for. Amazon AWS provides 12mths free micro instances on db, ec2(web), elasticache(redis), loadbalancer - so you can run a 3web/2db plus redis cluster for $30/mth.

With HHVM that provides the same hosting performance as $500/mth normal hosting - as hosting is 1% of revenue Google ranks them like crazy thinking they are $600,000 busineseses - on $30/mth which is how we run startups - never have to pay for SEO or PPC services - cool. The other problem is that SEO is only 2% of business revenue - if you ever get to 80% you could - althactually have something intelligent add.

I've never used Amazon's hosting services before so there's no way I could have known if the prices were actually affordable or not.

Let's hope your advice helps the OP. Case closed.

The websites that Google ranks on the 1st page of of its search results for any given search term are the ones that they consider to be the most relevant and useful. They determine which websites are the most useful and relevant by using a complex algorithm (mathematical process) which takes into account 200+ different factors.
Google doesn’t let people know what those factors are, however, through a combination of research, testing and experience, a good Google SEO Assistant knows what the most important factors are. For example, most SEOs would agree that the following are all important ranking factors…
    • Keyword usage
    • Site structure
    • Site speed
    • Time spent on site
    • Number of inbound links
    • Quality of inbound links
There’s no magic button that an SEO can press that guarantees a no.1 ranking, however, by paying attention to the factors that the algorithm places value on, and actively working to improve them, they can guarantee to improve your website’s rankings in Google.

Of course they do, that's how they generate their own revenue - with chargeable time - doesn't mean it actually works given Google have 2,000% efficiency and know everything about everything.

That's not true - just 99.9% don't know how to do it, if you use the same methods as the corporates - multi-node clusters (Amazon AWS) - high-efficiency installs (clean base install) - optimised architecture (HHVM & Nginx) - it works. Saw a new site ranking mass market next to Google and eBay on the same environment within a few weeks and above the original manufacturer (Hugo Boss etc) with no marketing - no backlinks - no ppc - based on the above architecture.

Now those were on large clusters - but as a small business your initial concern is your lateral competitors. The above structure puts you to within the top 5% on <$100/mth and you can build it out yourself - the top 5% of sites generate 50% of all online revenue - every small business uses low efficiency slow growth strategies - it's why the services providers are having a turn at the mention of this architecture. They are so desperate that service provider moderators delete posts on StackExchange to make sure the information doesn't enter the public domain.

So how do you gain an edge over the over 95% - you use high efficiency rapid growth - even Facebook (who developed HHVM) run on it and they are 2,400% efficient even above Google at 2,000% and Amazon at 1,400%, small business maxes out at 200% and normally run at 50% because service providers over-engineer everything to generate chargeable time over retailer growth.

The mis-information the small business providers give to retailers does only one thing - it puts them out of business - the providers have been happily biting the hand that feeds them for way too long with strategies that implode at the first sign trouble - they just were lucky that there wasn't any trouble the past years - that's now changed - 10yrs of low efficiency effort will evaporate in the blink of an eye.

Usually a new website will not be ranking on top immediately. It will be sandboxed by Google for some time. You have to update your website with unique and relevant content. Build quality backlinks and share your website link with related information on different social network sites.

I have a question, what if I guest post and instead of my landing page etc I post a link to my, lets say "Contact" page, would this help my site at all? Just the Contact page? Or neither.. Considering that both sites have tightly relevant content, I just didn't link to the right page because I don't want the other site know why I'm actually using them to promote my own site...

    Thanks

Yes, your site would still benefit from the link but your organic rankings won't increase as much as they would if you linked directly to the specific page you want to promote.

Each time I see low quality pages on authority sites ranking above smaller sites with much better content, it reaffirms my belief that content is not and might never be king. Google ranks sites based on trust and authority. I wish that filter was existent too.

Build link pyramid (3~4 tiers) with do-follow contextual links.

By now, don't include social bookmarking links in link pyramid. That will dilute the link power.
