Remove backlinks from deindexed sites?

Do you think it can help to remove low quality links from sites Google has deindexed?

Does Google ignore deindexed links or would you recommend getting rid of them for sites hit by Penguin?

Thanks

According to Google, links form de-indexed websites simply loses their value. They don't hurt negatively if they are left alone.

Google after the last recent updates, started to take into consideration many negative SEO related measures. If they penalize websites that gets links from de-indexed websites then we can spend the whole day penalizing our competitors and ranking on top of them.

In few words, focus on your content, build quality relevant links, connect on social media networks and you must be good to go!

    Hope that helps!

Where did google say that? news to me if its true.

I would have thought if google deindexed or banned a site (eg a PBN), then the sites linked from it would be prime targets for a penalty!

No ones seems to know what the hell is going on with google penguin. Even John Mueller in a hangout today didn't want to answer questions about it.

It is concerning though - not knowing if it will refresh in one month or one year.

It seems people have recovered had the best luck by getting rid of all the links they can though, so I opt to try doing that.

SEO can be a wild topic, and like I've said before, it could have a forum all on it's own.

I think some of the best SEO advice I've gained from this forum is to continually focus on your content and pushing quality information. Google seems to like sites that are getting retention. so if you have great content, it can really help google's favoring of your site.

Now i'm not saying that you should rely on great content, because it won't build you a 6-figure business, but like everyone's saying, Google is really unpredictable and it's hard to answer questions about Google SEO in general..

Either way, best of luck to all the SEO people out there!

Penguin is about links so great content wont save a site from a Penguin penalty.
