Google Webmaster responsible for penalty?

I had received an email this morning of thin content penalty.. ect... Result of 27 website were dispatched thin content email all at the same time.. basically every website that was in webmaster. Most were of related fields but some were not... Has google used webmaster against me? Could I have survived if they weren't in google webmaster?

    No, they've used it to save humanity from themselves.

    Seriously, WMT might have sped up the process but 27 domains being slapped, it would have happened sooner or later.

    They have been good sites. good content and most up in top three on goog for over 7 years, all organic backlinks and I never did any seo... just seems strange..

      No offense (seriously) but everyone that gets slapped in the SERPs always has the best sites on the net.

      If you want to PM me one of the problem domains I would like to see what they consider thin. If you don't want to that's fine, I understand.

    Hi,

    Are these part of a PBN?

    I wouldn't say that they used GWT against you because your atleast able to find out about the manual penalty and do something about it. First, I would start by finding out why you got slapped. In your case "THIN" content websites which means your either linking to or have think content on your webpages. Go back and check which websites have very little in-depth pages and a majority low or poor quality content.

    Next,

    If your "main" website has awesome content, your probably linking to it from low quality websites. This is why many people who are using PBN's got hit. They built little websites with poor content and linked to the "targeted" website.

    Also, I' seen you mentioned they are good websites, however if they are all linking to "1" main website, your going to get hit. Spread it out!
