Will it be considered Thin Content?

I am planning on creating a directory of Animals. Each animal page will consist of 100 word description and a few fields (Like Species, country of origin, e.t.c). My aim is to rank in SERPS for specific keywords, but since each page will be only 100 words? Will it be considered thin content? From a user's stand point of view, the content is enough, more content would only be for satisfying search engines. So how is thin content classified? And can you suggest any Wordpress theme for this?

When using the SEO plugin by Yoast, I keep being told to keep my pages to a minimum of 300 words.

Saying that though, I've just launched my site and in the process signed up for a 6 social media pages. The first of the 6 to hit Google when searching my company name was actually Twitter, followed by Vimeo and now after a few days, Linkedin. I'm still waiting for Google+, Facebook and one other page to hit Google.

When looking at the Google result from searching my company name, Twitter is the only one which currently ranks above my actual website and has stayed there since it hit Google.

The point to all this is that out of all the social media pages I've signed up for (and barely used any of them yet - just filled out my company name, description and URL), Twitter seems to be doing amazingly well in Google and it's based off 144 character posts!

I wouldn't personally worry about it. Obviously, if you can write more without waffling, then do. But otherwise, focus on posting regularly.

    Good luck with your venture!

You'll be fine with short descriptions. If that's all traffic needs, that's all you need.

I have a few thousand pages with about 1 sentence per page (besides some anchor-text), I've never had a problem ranking my pages. Been doing this a few years.

My content is inside downloadable zip files with a single image per webpage so I don't have any reason to add much text to the page, the image per page is descriptive enough for traffic. I average 7 page views per unique traffic with an established email list (repeat traffic) across multiple domains.
