Location landing page not indexed

Hi,

I have created a range of different location based pages, all optimised around 'Website Design'. I have included the location and target keyword of 'website design' in the meta title, and in a H1 & H2.

I have included a range of different content and images, with alt tags containing target keywords, and also a good keyword density.

I submit the page to Google, fetch as google too. It is indexed, but it can't be found for my target keyword, taking into consideration the competition is pretty small, I should be ranked.

I am aware that these pages have no backlinks - but why, before the penguin update when I created landing pages they were ranked like 14th - now they don't even appear, they come up when I do site:URL.

Any help would be appreciated.

Is this a local keyword (ex: website design chicago) or global keyword (website design)? You said location in your forum thread title.

Really it's hard to say what's going on without seeing the domain. My first guess is either over optimization or no supporting internal links with the keyword as anchor-text.

Your pages don't show up for any searches because you forced Google to index the pages. Next time, let Google index your pages naturally and avoid using the "fetch as Google" tool for newly created pages. You need to build backlinks to those pages so they can start ranking.

Content is unique though, written from scratch without looking at any sources - I wrote it at the top of my head.

Although the pages I am using duplicate content with, are indexed and showing in Google?

Writing original content can be a frustrating job and I applaud your efforts for writing it off the top of your head.If your content is ranking via a keyword search then more than likely there is more content similar to yours out there than you might realize.Do a keyword or topic search before you start writing your next article and see what viewpoint it is being written from.If it all seems to be written in one direction try going the other way and write yours from a counterpoint. That would definetly be original.Hope it helps and best of luck.
