i see a lot of people have one niche like say just make money online etc

What if you created a site with

Technology
Sports
Music
Marketing

Etc a big site with different categories, would this still work well?

With Big G continuous algorithmic updates, Big G has made certain that no website with lousycontent stays on top of the SERPs. The focus is shifted to quality over quantity, Now that Big G is apparently more and more stringent in terms of ranking a website, what things you should watch out of when you are running on a niche website. Try to use sub domain strategy instead, It’s like saying “Don’t Put All of Your Eggs In One Basket!”

FWIW, using subdomains is essentially putting all your eggs in one basket - they still are part of one website.

OP's multi-niche blog makes sense - because most people blog about all kinds of stuff that interests them, NOT just one thing.

That's the thing with SEO - stop trying to make it look like what you think it should look like. Blogs are natural and don't get penalized for it. It's when we overthink the blog that trouble finds you.

I would stay away because your spreading yourself too thin and will need to work 4x as hard creating solid content for each niche on a single website. The more niches on "1" site the more content you need to show value and that you actually have resourceful info.

I would focus on "1" niche and work the hell out of it making it something special.

Good advice. Better to focus on one subject and make it the very best you can. That way when you have a targeted visitor they will spend more time on your site and are probably more likely to spend money than somebody that has to search through unrelated topics as well.

I've been putting my self away from multi niches blog all these times as it seems never work that way when it comes to G's ranking, better stay focused on 1 thing and it done pretty well though so far.

What you call a multi-niche blog is actually a broad authority site. I advise that you avoid building this type of site unless you have the budget and time to write or order tons of articles on different subjects and promote your site. Focus on one niche instead.

There's a bazillion of those types of sites/blogs with pages ranked on page #87 of Google SERPs.

    Focus.

It's the same as those restaurants that sell every kind of food under one roof (steak, shrimp, hamburgers, blah blah blah. If you want a good steak, you go to a steakhouse, the best shrimp...a seafood place. If you're not "specializing" in one area you'll come across as mediocre. Look at it from the searcher's perspective...If you were looking for baseballs online, would you want to find a site that was talking all about the weather, shopping, vehicles, food, oh...and a little bit about baseballs? Or would you rather see a page that's all about baseballs?

If it's just you, stick with one niche and get cash rolling in. Once you have profits scale up any way you like including going more broad.

Covering many niches requires a large staff of writers to do it properly.
