    Dead? - no, I always start with direct linking if I'm testing an offer but you need to make sure the product landing page is well optimised or you'll get slapped.

    Can you make money with it? - Yes, but you'll need to be prepared for a bidding war with other affiliates who are direct linking and have been around for a while.

    TIP: It works well with product name keywords.

    Keyword tracking is the key and it's really expensive to test if you can't get any benefits from your clicks expect conversion test data. Well, luckily I can test these for free

    Both previous posters made good point.

    You usually can't improve conversions by having a landing page. Unless you have tested and tweaked for awhile.

    The main reasons the big PPC players have landing pages is so that they have a great quality score and thus there bids go down.

    P.S- Stephen is 100% right. Without tracking down to the keyword level it's pointless to even be in PPC, it's literally like throwing money away.
