A single page micro niche site targeting a single keyword?

I have some ideas for a project and I am curious to know about single page sites.

Lets say I have 5 keywords on 5 different topics. Each keyword gets 5-20 monthly searches with little to no competition. I don't want to build an entire site around this keyword just a single page that presents highly unique and quality content to the visitor.

My questions are:

1.) Does Google look down on single page sites?

2.) Is it harder to rank a single page site?

3.) What are the pros and cons (aside from long tail traffic to secondary articles and posts.

4.) Is there anything I should know when building single page sites to rank for a specific keyword?

As always, thanks in advance!

I like this idea - but I'm fringe random when it comes to SEO. I hate it that I'm knee deep in it...

One page site, one keyword. Simple. Easy. Streamlined. If it hits, you can rent space to someone or affiliate link it.

If this idea works, I may not make SEO walk the plank.

    Hi,

You need more than one page. I suggest at least two other pages of high quality content.

Plus, you need a page for each of these: Anti-spam Policy | Disclaimer | Dmca Notice | E-mail Policy | Earnings Disclaimer | External Links Policy | Privacy Policy | Terms Of Use | Testimonial Disclaimer

Your biggest problem is, you're thinking way too much about it.

    1. Maybe. Hard to say whether this happens or not.
    2. Same as 1.
    3. Your site looks more useful.
    4. If you have an existing site in the same niche, publish the article on it instead.

      Thanks for the replies.

NOTE: I use the words 'blog post', 'post', and 'article' as being the same thing in this post.

To give you a better understanding I'll go back and use the sports car example analogy and then I'll nswer your questions. Let's say the keyword "Best Red Sports Car" gets 5,000 exact local searches a month. What I could do is buy the domain "bestredsportscar.com" and write the primary post targeting "Best Red Sports Car". I can than can write or outsource 10 - 20 other article based around 10 - 20 other low comp decent search volume keywords.

The above would give me a nice little micro niche site. I've done plenty of these. Here is what I would really like to do (or attempt as a case study or trial). I would like to buy the domain "bestredsportscar.com" (still an example) and create only one page. The index page of the domain. The main post targeting the primary keyword "Best Red Sports Car" will obviously be the home page (the index. file). Now, the purpose of this is the real kicker. The bread and butter. This single page will be more valuable than ALL of the other results ranking in the top 10 of Google. Not only that I want to spend TONS of time on this post. It will be full of quality content and universally useful (as best as possible) for all who read it. Not just an affiliate page linking to the top 5 best red sports cars and why I think they are the best. I plan to do lots of research and present an amazing post on each one of these 'single-page' sites. Something so useful that anyone who reads it can find it at east a small bit of use out of it while the vast majority can deff learn from and enjoy it. This obviously has it's benefits. A decent percentage of the people who read this article will share it on social media, share it with friends, share it over places like Reddit and similar. So this is moving away from authority websites and moving into the realm of Authority Pages, Authority Posts, or an Authoritative & Informative Resource Guides. However you'd like to view it. It makes link building campaigns will be 100X easier, all content is on the root domain, still a chance at ranking for nice long tail traffic if keyword research is done right and implemented into the post, etc, etc,. There are numerous ways this could be beneficial.

To answer all of your questions:

1.) Do I have affiliate links on the site? Yes. It is a website promoting an affiliate product(s) via affiliate links. Not garbage though. The idea is to be informative as possible and deliver the most valuable content. Also it is important to note that the site isn't based around any specific product or service. The most important thing is the quality of the article. I would add in an affiliate link where possible but it wouldn't be hard to integrate this. You just don't want the affiliate links or affiliate marketing to take away from the contents honesty and integrity.

domainarama - Why do you say forget about it if I do have affiliate links?

2.) SEOexpertSEO - I agree I will need more than one page based on what sort of 'single-page' site it is but that's not what I really mean. Rather, there is only one content page. One site per keyword. All those disclaimers and notices you linked can be either linked at the bottom of the page or included on the same page in modal or alerts. It would be very cosmetically speaking and not take u space. It is also highly efficient.

Thanks in advance.. again! = )

I'm liking this idea. People laughed at those two brothers trying to fly, so...

This can revolutionize the PBN industry as well. Tons of one-page monsters...

        Okay, I'm doing it.

EDIT: Any WP templates that would work for one page sites? I guess you could just strip it all down to one post on the home page, but that still makes that same post get it's own page as well, making a 2-pager.

        What do to here?

Awesome! And yeah man. People may laugh at us as now but maybe we will be the 'first in flight'? If you want we can correspond with each other via pm or on another avenue to share ideas.

What I plan to do is find a theme that I feel will work for this purpose and edit the html and css to build a single page template. Remove sidebars, nav, footers, etc, and build my own. Mostly using wordpress just for all the nice features and addons it has.

Something to make note of: each one of these sites/single pages I am going to put on a new IP address. In the very least put it on a new C Block of the IP. This way while it's not technically a PBN I can still link out to my other single page sites if they are relavant and build what I will now call a Private Page Network (PPN) = )

I know for a fact single page sites will work. Here is an example. A few years back I was working on a site with my best friend and roommate at the time. The website is a porn list. (TBLOP- The Big List Of Porn - TBLOP - The Big List of Porn) It is also a single page site. While I can not disclose it's monthly income I can say it is 5 digits. Some months 6. Furthermore tblop is #1 in the rankings for all types of keywords. Even VERY competitive ones. It is now the authority porn list website. And it is only a single page.

So yeah I am very excited to start working on these single pagers and I'm going to start a case study and document each part for future use and to share.

From my experience of building just couple of single page site - consider this as opinion only.

    1. If the competition is poor, then no. Otherwise yes.
    2. See question 1
    3. Pros - Less effort, ranks faster than average. Cons- Your site will not stick to 1st page for long
    4. Yes. Add at least contact and about us page. Interlink them. Use LSI a lot. NEVER over-optimize. Other than that nothing else.
