Why can I do for have more SEO with on multilanguage site?

Hi, I am new in this nice forum. This is my first topic and I'd like to know what is your opionion about my question. I see that all most famous websites or ecommerce as for example, amazon, have much domains, one for each state.
But I have also note that this website has a same pagerank for all extension of domain.. Why? How can they do for pass pagerank to all your extensions? I don't can explain this thing.. For example, .com was created on 1990 and .it in 2002, how there is possible that has the same pagerank?
