Okay, I have a website that ranks very good. I switched from wordpress about a year ago and went to Wix, now I want to go back to wordpress. My question is if I switch back to wordpress will I lose ranking because of it? I never lost any when I switched the first time but I have someone telling me my ranking will drop if I switch back. Same domain name just a new platform.

Thank you for the help

I wont think you would lose the rankings provided same content. I know of many top ranking forums recently switched from vbulletin to xenforo without losing page rank or domain authority.

If url structure and content does not change I do not see any problem.

    Hi,

You won't look the rankings as rankings are determined by domain & content on domain. However, make sure when you are configuring Wordpress you have the same on-page SEO metrics as before. I've noticed that changing focus on on-page SEO factors can alter rankings.

I do not think you will lose rankings because of this switch. However, you should check your 302 and 301 redirects so that you can avoid many headaches in the future.

Your rankings could fluctuate when making a change like this. It's not just your content that impacts rankings, but also how the content is laid out out coded. You need to make sure you maintain the same URL structure and internal linking.

Nevertheless, your rankings might go up, or they might go down.

There should be no loss in rankings if you can maintain the same urls. However, if your urls change after the switch, you can simply redirect the old urls to the new ones and keep your rankings.

If it was me I would go to Wayback & look at the source code of your old pages. Use the same old WP theme, try your best to get everything setup like the old WP theme (internal nav. links).

You could still drop in the SERPs, changing anything about a ranked page is a gamble.

Well, it is sure that the ranking will change, either positively or negatively (high or low)....

However, if your website passes some months on Wordpress platform, the ranking will be better than what you are getting from Wix platform.. because Wordpress somewhere is better than Wix and other similar platforms.. and I think Wix is a web 2.0 platform, you may be using free hosting of Wix as well... I'm not much sure of this....
